Prestidigitase item discrepancy?

Just a warning gang. This was posted by Ngreth in the Fan Faire write up thread in the general tradeskill discussion forum.

Was there any mention on fixing the rec / req lvls and No Trade tags for PoR JC items?

It was not mentioned, but on Monday after a quick conversation with him, Maddoc made many changes to that. Some things that had no rec/req got it, some things that had too high rec/req got lowered, all ND got changed to attuneable... even some attuneable got changed to just plain droppable.

I logged on to Test to check the bazaar.There were only 6 or so different links to check in /buyer mode but there were examples of rings, earrings, and pendants.
Velium Prestidigitase items were required 30, recommended 40.
Palladium Prestidigitase items were required 40, recommended 50.
None of them were attuneable.

No staurolite or harmonagate links though.

Those levels are actually in line with other gear around in the bazaar, so I'm happy if that's the case.

Those levels are eminently fair. Within a few days of these items being made Ngreth made comments about the level requirement issue on these very boards, and people in game were talking about there to be an expected nerf because no required/recommended levels was obviously an oversite.

Changes happen, and this change is expected by anyone with common sense. How anyone would come to you weeks later after buying a cheap tradeskill item for a twink and blame you is beyond me, but I don't get where you think it is your problem. That's on par with people whining about the PoK beta vendor thing that happened. It was obviously a mistake, and if you decide to try and "beat the system" by taking advantage, too bad for you. If you are just so blatantly blind to something that is too good to be true, well, too bad for you.

But, if you are actually concerned about the few whiny customers you may get, make some cheap fire opal palladium rings and offer them to anyone that bought the ring, and they can use those till level 40.

I bet you get far fewer complaints than you are expecting though.

The thing is, the prestidigitase rings didn't really need recommended or required levels, compared to earlier tradeskill items. It went from 6AC/65hp (velium fire) to 8AC/70hp (palladium fire) to 10AC/75hp (palladium prestidigitase) with some stats and saves, all with no levels on them. Looking at the prestidigitase stuff in comparison to dropped gear, the levels make sense -- but looking at them in comparison to past tradeskill gear, it's a little muddier.

I'm mostly just happy that the earrings and pendants will have a viable twink market now.
