Work up through the gems in order

Do the gem that is just above your current trivial, then switch to the next gem when you are one below the trivial for the current gem. I've done that up to fire emerald platinum rings (where I currently am) and have only spent maybe 2-3k so far. I've averaged one skill-up per stack and one failure, this with trophey, JCM 2 and 325 INT.

On another note, I have a stack of pale nihilite in the bank. The combine with platinum trivials at 268 and with velium at 272 but I wondered it might be more valuable to use for smithing or save for the new metal?

Thanks to the Evil Plat Pharmers for making me lose 10pp per sucess instead of making 5pp like I did on the way up to 250.

I've managed to get to 292, but finally ran out of dropped gems. Jacinth, Black Sapphire, Diamonds, and especially Blue Diamonds are noticably scarce on vendors and in the bazaar, again, just like old times.

Ding 300 jewelry craft, cost around 100K all told most of it going from 279 to 300 on gem stud chains, on the bright side has hmm upwards of 300 chains to skill up tailoring, now just need to farm spider silk

However being slightly poorer atm working on brewing.

I noticed. About 2 months ago I would check the PoK Vendors in the main trading building and the ones closest to the port-in spot and there would be diamonds and more all over them. I never bought my blue diamonds in bazaar, I just walked around and could probably find 10 or more within 5 minutes.

I got to 280 Jewelry last night with the Velium Ruby combines, but since the Blue Diamond and Diamond combines are cheaper I thought i'd try that..... But NOT diamonds ANYWHERE to be found. So I went to bazaar to buy Geodes..... usually there were always people with 15 or so of em selling em off for 35p a pop.

There was ONE for 50p. I think I'll give it a rest for now, I don't have the money to go for the studded chains at this moment.

I got to 300 over the weekend by doing chains from about 289 to 300. I have about 200 of them I will use for tailoring. Before I did the chains, I bought and used every Blue Diamond I could find on vendors. The availabity of Blue Diamonds really hurts when there once a month instead of once a week.

Few things to say about a couple different things. I personally am not a gm jewelcrafter though my skill is at 200, but I've taken to helping harvest diamonds and blue diamonds for guildies who cut augs for me and I have found that they're not extremely common but they're also not that rare. In two days of browsing merchants I managed to get 39 diamonds and 7 blue diamonds. Not sure on the sell back but in the opinion of all the jewelcrafters velium and these gems seems to be the way to do it.
My thoughts on the chains is that it might be harder to offload them since sony changed the triv on the solstice robes from 302 to 252.
Ldon jewelcrafting was what some of my guildies were going to do some of until I gave them a bunch of geode, amethyst, and polished quartz and they found out that merchants only pay a couple gold pieces for the items they create when combined w/ velium. If have a friend that can forage these and don't mind loosing all that plat that the velium cost this could be a good way to go.
In the end it all comes down to which you prefer, those were just my 2 cents worth on a few things.
