The chanter trick would just rock! Frankly, I have yet to hear of a valid reason for coin being no drop. Seems kinda silly to me to not be able to drop cash. Oh well, this is EQ after all...

I miss the coin art. I'll have to see if I can dig out the pretty sunburst someone made on the ground outside Perma while he was waiting for me to need his banking services at the ice giant camp.

Thing I miss about being able to drop coins was being a lowbie enchie with your minor illusion and becoming the coin!

And I always thought they stopped coins from being able to be dropped because scammers in EC would sit in the fire by Shady and auction high priced items and when someone came to trade their money with them instead of it going into a trade window it would hit the ground. Scammer would pick it up and that buyer was out of a hefty sum. See, the fire graphic acted as a barrier so you could really not target/click on the person standing in it.

I had my favorite drop trade spot in Kelethin (on the platform with the gem merchant behind the far building). Got both chars to that spot that I was doing the trading with, logged on the one with the gear/money to trade, got the stuff went to the spot and sat down, hit /camp wait until about 10 seconds to go and drop everything in a hurry, log out, log in char getting the gear and pick it all up. BEST spot for drop trading. Never once had anything disappear on me.

I'm happy they added this, but I have to say I have never once needed to transfer any platinum since the shared bank slots went into effect. I made sure my main had a lot of cash and since then, he's stayed more or less self-sufficient, buying vendor-dive stuff from merchants "in the field" and shipping it home via the Bank of Norrath's FedEx service, and supporting that with the loot he sells to merchants. Anything good he gets go to the bazaar alt who is slowly building up a big fat stash of cash.

Maybe I'm too low-level to need to spend much, or maybe I just don't get out enough but other than in the Bazaar, or perhaps if one went to by T-boots or a Tink Bag, where can you spend large amounts of money outside of the Bazaar?

Having said that, it will be nice to mush all the cash together into one spot and jump up and down in it yelling whoopee, look at all this cash, yee haa! No, seriously, I can see how this will be convenient, and a nice little improvement, but it's nothing like the shared bank slot itself, which was a merchandising dream come true, making my main and bazaar alt into a small business dynamo.

Components. My cleric was imbuing rubies to get armor made, needed a stack of dots for experiencing, and was having a chanter friend make distilled and purified mana. a few stacks of gems later she was totally broke, I had to go mug my husband's merchant. Had the shared coin been available I could have had my merchant stick the money in the bank instead. (Yes, I could also have my bard merchant move all her trader satchels into the 8 new slots LoY provided, zone into SH to shop, return to the bazaar and get her satchels back out and put the gems in the shared slots as an alternate method. Both of the previous methods are easier).

Thats exactly why it changed. They were tired of the constant petitions of people getting scammed.

Pretty much thats why a lot of things get changed, they get so tired of the hours of CS needed to deal with scams that they put a stop to it by changing something. Just like how /consent would let other people loot your corpse. That used to be the best way to transfer stuff safely, including money. Just put what you want on the character, then die to someone in a duel. Consent your other character and then have him log in and loot the items/cash off the corpse he wanted. Of course it got changed when so many people would consent someone that was offering to drag them only to get all their gear stolen.
