I've sent feedback suggesting that trade skill combines that would result in a duplicate lore item should not consume the components, similarly to a DNC.
It occurred to me making a minor item, but I know of someone who attempted to make 2 seru bane longswords, and lost the second to duplicate lore item. He still hasn't gotten the second weapon, I don't think.
Just as tradeskill items are not lost unless you fail the roll, like DNC or combining in the wrong container does not result in lost items, a combine that would generate a duplicate lore item should behave the same ... as if the combine were never attempted, I think.
