A change to the item database SHOULD only make it so people can't scribe the spell anymore. You'd have to change the spell database for the other bit, and I don't even think that database has a field for that

It sounds like they are planning on adding the diety to the scroll item, which would stop anyone else from actually scribing the spell, but with their current coding I don't think they can stop someone who has scribed the spell from casting it. This would be the same situation that people who have the other diety single imbue spells are in currently.

If they changed the code so incorrect diety people can't CAST the spell, then this would nerf the existing people.

You'd think if they were gonna nerf, er fix, the spell itself, they wouldnt' need to despawn the vendors, right?

        Here's hoping *crosses fingers*

We despawned the vendors at the request of your employers, who didn't want you taking sick leave at this busy time of the year...

Then again, since some of you have enough time to spend all day posting here, that excuse probably won't work.

Sorry to say, we'll be putting the deity restrictions onto these spells tonight. At that point the vendors will return.

I knew the diety-restrictions were only coming, but will you comment on how the changes may affect someone who has already scribed all the spells?

                Re: Absor

Thank Brell this will be changed! It was always immensely satisfying watching the reactions of poor fools who worshipped weak gods like Bertox when I told them they had almost no chance of ever finding someone to imbue for them. You picked a god that is unpopular with players of priest classes? No imbued armour for you!

Do the servers have to come down for this fix? I dont see anything announced on the EQLive page.

edit: Looking at Lucy it looks like on Test the spells themselves have had diety restrictions added to match those of their single component only counterparts.

I hope this works like it did with single imbue spells. I went home at lunch and scribed all of them Clerics can scribe. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that 3 imbue spells are not available to Clerics to scribe, 2 Shammie and 1 Wizzie only? Then I realized that they were no drop. Doh. There went about 280pps. Just destroyed them. I was in a too much hurry to check since I just went to EC, bought them, scribed them as fast as I can. Glad got I got it done before the change.

                      *CRY*

                      I didn't get the imbue:topaz spell

Druid didn't get the plains pebble spell either - but at least she has the single version. BF got all the shammy spells!

So are you saying with them putting the diety restrictions that the people who have already scribed, have an unfair advantage? I don't think I like that.

It's been that way for a while, actually. In case you weren't already aware, there was a time quite a while ago where characters could scribe the single target imbues, regardless of diety. They changed that in a patch, stating that those who had scribed them could continue to use them but that new scribings would be regulated with the deity restrictions.

Is it fair? It's as fair as people who have the old Circlet of Shadow having a distinct advantage over those with the new Circlet of Shadows, etc. EQ has a history of "grandfathering" things like this. If people having imbues that they couldn't scribe due to diety restrictions hasn't bothered you till now, some people having the mass imbues scribed shouldn't bother you either.

                          Regards,

Ok, wasn't aware of that. Going by that knowledge, I probably won't have a problem with it. Also considering it was only for a few hours that people were able to buy them.

Hmmm, I just better not see you selling tons of Imbued gems from varying dieties in bazaar, Taushar.

                                hehe j/k
