Rostan, I'm sorry if you think it's BS, but it is a decent roleplaying reason. There are certainly precedents of many, many fantasy worlds where half-elves are frowned on.
Anyway... Armors that have extra classes on them than the race making them can wear are generally (please, let's leave the anomoly that is Fierce Heraldic out of this) similiar size/culture races which can worship that deity and have the classes listed.
If there were enchanted/non-imbued Vah Shir armor, presumably it would list, say, Barbarians on it, and classes Barbarians can be that Vah Shir can't... oh, wait.
Imbued would only list classes that can worship that deity in those races, and only the Vah Shir worship these nature spirits.
