Thankfully, I haven't received any DNC's, but something similar has happened two nights in a row in the bazaar to me (on Xev). The first night, I made a haze panther skullcap, patted myself on the back, then set up my trader. Five minutes later, the entire zone crashed. I was rolled back to before my combine, which I retried and of course failed. :P I wasn't sure of the policy for this, so I petitioned, and shortly thereafter a helpful apprentice guide informed me that he was going to elevate my request to a senior guide. I waited for quite a while but eventually had to go to bed, but left an afk message on my character telling the GM to leave a message. Of course, bazaar crashed while I was sleeping, so I have no idea whether they ever contacted me. Next night, the same thing happened after a black pantherskin boots combine. Very frustrated, I used eqlive's contact a GM page and sent an email describing my plight. Today, I received an email from a GM which basically said the following (good info to know for anyone who does high level combines):
"Unfortunately, in a rollback your saves of the successful combine are lost so we normally can not reimburse, we would have to investigate on a case by case basis. I have a few suggestions that might help out. I know you are probably combining the items to [sell] in the Bazaar, but I would suggest to actually do the combines in either Shadowhaven or Plane of Knowledge (if you have POP) as in general those zones are less laggy and more stable. Then after you are done with your combines for the day you could travel back to Bazaar to sell. After you make the successful combines, camp out to desktop to save and then go to the Bazaar."
I think this is reasonable advice, although I admit it's annoying that this is the way things are. Of course, if you fail several combines you can just hope for a zone crash.
The moral of the story is that after succeeding a high level combine that you care about, the best bet is to camp out and come back. (I wonder, though, whether zoning wouldn't be enough. Doesn't zoning automatically save your character? That certainly seems to be an easier solution.)
Anyhow, I realize this was *slightly* off-topic on this thread, but I hope this post might alert some tradeskiller(s) to be a bit more careful in the future than I have been in the past.
