I hunted in LFay over the weekend (4/12-4/13) in Wolf Form. Walked right into the Brownie camp and checked out all of the vendors without any problems. Wolf Form seems to be unaffected by the illusions change.
Not wanting to defend SoE but this was done to fix a problem. The problem was if a mage walks through town the guards ignored his pet. If an enchanter followed a mage in illusion earth elemental you get a dead enchanter.
Why they choose this solution is beyond me. Was it to simple just to make elemental form have a zero faction adjustment?
This is almost as bad as the poor enchanters who chose to follow a god. Like a High Elf enchanter walks into Neriak, casts illusion Dark Elf, but forgets to take off her "Hug a bunny for Tunare button"?
Or the Dark elf wandering Felwith but not cleaning off his sacrificial dagger?
IMHO, the enchanter's ability to walk around some places that other classes can't, or do certain quests that others can't, via their previously faction changing illusions was somewhat analogous to the Rogue's ability to get places that other classes can't via hide/sneak. Removing this ability is then equivalent to removing hide/sneak.
The problem is the AA ability project illusion. With project illusion the enchanter now can give that ability to ANY class. IMHO that's where it fell apart. The best solution would have been to make that AA only work on player races. Then fix the bug that allows exploiting via "mobile" minor illusion. But instead they nerfed the entire ability. Using a chainsaw where a exacto knife will do.
There are a number of places that I have carefully preserved non-fixable faction changes over the past few years, so that I could continue to have access to certain things and places. What is the point of all that care now?
Humbly, I sent my druid in to buy the spells for my new lowbie enchanter. My 65 enchanter COULDN'T DO IT. Sigh.
Like a High Elf enchanter walks into Neriak, casts illusion Dark Elf, but forgets to take off her "Hug a bunny for Tunare button"?
I'm still laughing over this. Good show.

yes this is what they have done. I think the tip of the iceberg was night's dark terror, because it made them completely non kos to "everything". I witnessed a chanter waltzing around mobs in the crypt of Decay totally immune to agro.....so they fixed that hurriedly.
But as some people have explained here.... people found new and still exciting ways to cheat still, so SoE says
"want to play hard ball? I'm game"
When you use an illusion of a "playabe race" it's like you are now a part of that race.
BEFORE it was actually worse, because they still detected your deity, so tunare HIE enchanter was still kos after all the bells and whistles in neriak. Now I assume only if you've maxed neg faction by killing crushbone orcs, will you still be kos.....
and don't laugh at the "special" encanter that picked a diety, was a long time ago!
And I wanted to check charm on the brownie outpost...cannot charm the merchants, and since i was dubious and collaboration did not help with that for killing MANY MANY brownies, I'm of no further help, 'fraid.
Clearing the camp and using collaboration may work for someone who hasn't killed any yet.....but would need help to kill the guards, and not get faction hits.... they are quite frisky. Or could try to mez it all and work quickly to get the spells bought.
