  • Tradeskill's Most Wanted?

Hey all, the names Toramund, and I'm mainly just a fletcher but have been dabbling in pottery and brewing as of late and I thought I'd come by and ask you all a simple question.

    To traderskillers of all trades...

What items do you want the most, yet hate putting the effort into getting?

So, what I mean is this, is there one item you want but you can't stand going to camp, or despise going to forage, etc? I'm not talking one item in general for all tradeskills, I mean any item for any tradeskill that is just a pain in the butt for you to get, but everyone needs them for their recipes?

See, the reason I'm asking this is tradeskillin' is awesome in my book, but I can never motivate myself to actually comitting to the life of a skiller. I'd much rather go out and get the things you guys "waste time" getting so you can do your business much more efficiently. Camping things is what I really love to do, and too many people are familiar with seeing this after a /who all Toramund... Toramund [60 Warder] (Wood Elf): Bazaar. (ROFL, is that even how who messages look? Boy I'm really tired.)

Anywho, if you guys could think of any of those annoying-to-get items to post here I'd love it. Thank ya!

This is brought up a lot...

If your market is lazy people in every skill, go for Celestial Essence.

Cost is 1.5-2pp each (somewhere in there).

    Sell for 4-5pp in bazaar.

That is 40-60pp profit per stack. It is a no-fail combine with ingredients available within a few feet of eachother in PoK.

I use them for brewing personally, but they are used in every skill there is practically.

You can also make a pretty penny selling Heady Kiola for lazy tailors, but that isn't No-fail, and you should be 80-100 in brewing before making them for sale, or you'll fail a lot and get frustrated. I've sold them for 4pp each, and a stack costs me about that to make, so 20x return on investment.

Ok, my market is not "lazy people" in my opinion... My market is people who want their tradeskilling to go faster, I know I love efficiency, if I can do something for you, that gives you more time to get other things done. I know it sounds like I'm talking about lazy people, but that is definitely not my intention.

Since I'm working on tailoring right now:

Flawless Rockhopper Hides (4 hours of non-stop killing got me 5 hides)
Acrylia Bricks & Blocks - Charm soloing in Acrylia Caverns is risky, but high yield, while farming Grimling Forest or the T. Mountains is slower.

If I could purchase 600 Flawless hides for 100 to 125pp each and 2400 Small bricks for 30 to 45pp each I'd do it today.

So far what I have found to be my biggest pain, is Tea Leaves from EK. On my server, you can't find them in the bazaar. Other than that, I personally like going out and farming.

Research components for the new cultural tailoring, they're just too rare and random for me to farm them effectively.

              Interesting

              Couple things come to mind:
              - Celestial Essences definitely (Smiths use 9 stacks for 20 combines of Sickles, Tailors use 6 stacks for 20 combines of Robes)
              - Foraged: Veggies, Tea Leaves, Yew Leaves, Misty Acorns, Oak Bark
              - Heady Kiolas
              - Enchanter Made Mana Vials of all types
              - Large Blocks of Magic Clay made by enchanters (not sure about desirability of other sizes) - possibly enchanted metals?
              - PITA temper components for cultural smithing, such as morning dew (look these up here, as well as in the bazaar)

On Fennin Ro I do a very nice trade (for a 26 Wood Elf) in Heady Kiolas (owe my wrist) and Leather Padding.

I guess I am one of the "lazy" tradeskillers referred to above, because if the price is at all reasonable, I will gladly pay for any of the following: celestial essence, small pieces of acrylia, morning dew, oak bark, tea leaves, silk swatches, eggs, hides (right now, superb rockhopper, excellent sabertooth, arctic wyvern and cobalt drake), cabbages, chitterling barbs and probably other things I'm not remembering right now.

If you have PoP, add to the list many foraged and looted items, like justice fruit, hobgoblin meat, blood raven parts, hero parts, various other meats and coiled springs.

Things that are seldom for sale in Bazaarl on my server (The Tribunal) include tea leaves, windstones, essence of wind, coiled springs and the various lotus parts for lotus pies.

I confess that if I have the option of buying these things for a price I can afford, I will gladly pay someone else for obtaining them. I have made celestial essence by the hundreds and I (and my wrist) are tired, yet I now need several hundred more for my next two projected rounds of tradeskilling. If that makes me lazy, so be it.

If you don't want to point and click (everyone needs celestial essence!), I'd recommend morning dew for most profit farming per unit time.

PoP meats, i.e. Blood Raven Parts, Mephit Meat, Jord Meat, Hero Parts (especially) and some I know I am excluding... All used for 250+ baking either for skillups (Jord) or SERIOUS stat food (Hero).

Foraged Justice Fruit for the same reason.

Low and Medium Quality Pelts (hopper, wolf, bear, cat) which are used to make Leather Padding for smithing (yes, I skin down my MQ pelts).

Heady Kiolas if you are in the mood to do subcombines, kinda like CEs, but for beginning and lower level tailors.

That's pretty much the main things I would like to have...

                        All of the above. Also:

If you have the skill and don’t mind, making velium studs/boning and acrylia studs/boning for tailors, and sheets (folded sheets?) of these metals (check the recipes) for smiths, wouyld probably save them time too.

If you can imbue gems, (for example: emeralds for Blessed Tunare Dust or Golden Tunare Idols) that might be good too.

Agreed. If not, Coldain Tempers are good. They cost 25pp in Thurg if I recall correctly and 13pp to make, so you can sell at 18pp which makes a nice profit and is well worth smithers/tailorers buying them off you as opposed to a random dwarf.

Heck, some of these ideas might even give me a reason to practice tradeskills more, thank ya!
