Things I often buy--

Leather padding (I used to make 100 a week hunting everything myself, I'm done with that now)
Celestial essense (I've made 1000's of these things, they drive me crazy!)
Coldain tempers (cost just under 27pp in Thurg, so anybody selling at 26 or less in bazaar gets my business instead.)
Imbued emeralds (cost 14pp+mana time, if you sell for them for 20 each you will save somebody TIME and well worth the 120pp a stack charge).

Also velium studs, boning and sheets are always a good thing to sell.

The key here is to find someone who wants a LOT of something, if you have a ton, then you can actually charge more. If you had, say, 80 stacks of sacred tunare silk swatches, I'll bet you could charge twice market price and find a buyer.

As much as I agree with the idea of alot of the above.... there is only one item for me:

A Tae Ew Blood Vial. The shield is sick, the weapons are good, and even on a pvp server, the chain bp is great.

If you were to give me any one thing, that would be it... I can farm the rest of the recipie (I have ~20 of everything atm), but for the one single item I want more than anything.. that's it.

Personally, I hate making leather padding. But I sometimes make it anyway, and hold it till I can get at least 20 to 25pp for it. Market sometimes dips down to as low as 13pp, and it's not worth it at that price for me to make it. Eventually I will be buying it myself probably, but at this point I'm broke and just need to make it to sell.

Getting the spiderling silks is somewhat easy, though considering the number of them you need to make even a single backpack of padding, and how heavily farmed gukta and neriak and commons are, getting a large volume isn't always easy.

Getting the pelts is hard though. Takes a good amount of zoning and clicking dozens of vendors, usually to come up with just a handful of pelts. We have LOTS of tradeskillers on Drinal, and they don't sit around unbought for long.

So usually if I want to make leather padding, I can get the silks by vendor mining or offering to buy them off newbies, but the pelts are just too time consuming, even though my shaman can mine neriak and my druid can mine everywhere else. I'm more than happy to buy as many as I can get in the bazaar for the going rate at present, which is about 5pp. I'll rarely pay more, as there are always plenty of sellers at 5pp.
