Tradeskill Trophies succes rates?

At 200 JC, I failed on the mounting of black sapphires five times in a row. Adding in the cost of two bars of velium per, I lost about 3500 plat in about 30 seconds. Diamonds mounted fine, two successes in a row.

Yet, mounting gems was I thought supposed to trivial at 100 JC?

Did I just have terrible luck there, or is the trivial wrong? Or is my info wrong? Thought I got it from here! Do I need to have a 250 jeweler mount all my gems?

1 for 1 on smithing trophy. My jeweler assisting me was 250, my smthing was 220ish. No fails on any combine. I was very lucky. I think the RNG was giving back some karma, since as a monk, I took a big hit in being able to solo.

Well on my GM JC trophy I was 1/1 on making the artesian seal. I also got Trophy on the 1st atempt 250 plus geerlock.

This last week when atempting to make the seal for my wifes Artesian seal went 1/4. Failed first two firing them. and the third one creating the seal skill 188 plus geerlock. Made the last one but wifes druid fail on spoon combine. Need less to say our pocket books are a little light atm so it will be a bit before she tries agian.

1/2 on GM Brewer's Corker

My guildmate jewellers were 8/9 on the gems (both were 250 +5%), I was 2/2 on the artisan seals, once at around 180-ish, once at 190 +5%. The failure was particularly painful, as some other guildmates convinced me it would be more meaningful if I used my production corking device (rather than a second purchased for the express purpose of crafting a trophy).

Well, with JC 166 and pottery 164, I made the seal first go. And amazingly enough I got my spoon at 214 + 5% first try!

Never expected it to happen - I was bored with some time on my hands and a lil cash to spare to throw into the seal so figured 'what the heck'. I nearly fell off my chair with laughter and amazement when I saw the success message hehe.

Sometimes lady luck is really on my side.

Woo Hoo, my turn.

Last night a friend with 250 jewlcraft mounted my gems. My druid with 199 pottery made the combine on the seal and my shaman succeeded first time on the brewing combine for his trophy with 248 skill. Both my characters were using geerlocks. My druid had about 220 wisdom and my shaman had about 188 wisdom.

I realized after pressing the combine button on the trophy that I’d forgotten to breath for a while. *grins* I was so happy. I was afraid to get too excited before then for fear of failing the combine and having to save up all that money again. I now have a new toy for my range slot and a cool new bag to carry all those heavy swords and blocks of metal.

Promised myself one attempt at a trophy on whichever skill made 230 first. It turned out to be my half-elf paladin who does pottery. An almost 250 jewelry friend did the mounting, I did the seal, my heart was beating fast....

Sigh.

Well, maybe in another 10 skillups I can afford to try again.

For the record, that was at 231 pottery, 249 wis and with a geerlok.
