Make the trivials around 250 or 270, something not inpossible with a 200 skill, a 5% trophy, and AA's to boost your chance. If your doing better skill wise, awsome, still not a guaranteed success!

Hell, even today with the much easier system, getting to 300 in ANY skill is way more work than grinding out 18 easy AA's Heck, I got 18 AA's today in about 45 minutes of grinding without breaking a sweat.

OMG WHINE MOAN EVERQUEST IS TEH EVILS NOW BECAUSE I HAVE TO DO 45 MINUTES OF EXP GRINDING FOR A QUEST OF EPIC PROPORTIONS!!!!!1!1!!1one

Oh, and would you seriously group with someone at 85 if you knew before hand that they had no AA's? I run a parser constantly and after about 5 mobs it's real obvious what's going on and they get their asses dropped from my group FAST.
Not whining, stating facts and an opinion about the shawl quest.

        18 AA's doing MM's...Great job!
What is all the fuss about? So I forgot to pick you up at work...I just gained a level !!! -Favorite last words as I sleep on the couch

Yes, I want something for free....

I want to be able to sit in a camp for hours....
I want the ability to attempt a combine...
If I succeed great....I can move on...If not I stay at the camp...
Where did I whine at? Where did I say I wanted something for FREE?

I would like this quest in paticular (and future ones, I'm not arguing that) to remove the skill requirement. I want the challenge in the drops and the trivial level, not in what AA's I bought.

Again, look up "opinion" and "fact" and come back and post responsibly.

The only MM's I've ever done were for the dain aug sometime back.

I popped a lessons the night before in the guild hall because I didn't have time to use it, fight in an exp zone till that was gone then popped another.

Although I looked back and it actually took 52 minutes.

I get about 10 AA's per lessons on average.

Does it really take you a couple of days to grind 18 AA's???? You really suck if that's the case.

But hey, you know what they say about people who ASSume.

It's a GRANDMASTER tradeskiller quest. If you want to sit in a camp for hours, just go camp the regular gear from UF. This quest isn't for you if you don't want to level up your tradeskills. Tradeskills have a finese about themselves. It makes perfect sense to just about everyone but your whiney ass that you have to have a certain skill level to attempt it.

You want to know what the funniest part is? I'm not even level 85 and I have had no problem at all maxing out 4 tradeskills already! Plat hasn't been a problem because I've been able to make it back. In fact, I've gained about 200k net since I've started my tradeskilling!

You needed 0 AA's to 85 unless you were a Tank or Druid. Yes you sucked, but I don't know how many PL'd toons (Especially Wizards) I saw in the last year w/0 AA's at level 85 easily getting groups in Kora simply cause they were 85. Many players want people who have AA's and thats why we group with regulars...But many on this board probally grouped with PL'd toons who were 85 and had less than 12 aa's. (This also lead to my statement about were I fit my 18 AA's in if I'm 1.5k AA or less because unlike some, I don't like leaving a group shafted.)
I'm only going to respond to your first statement because I'm not in the mood to read the rest of it.

Like I said: AAs are required for lots of content that if you don't have you won't be doing the content. Unless you're getting handfed EQ by uber friends of course. I can also include the fact that you will not be doing hard content either without them. You can make up whatever excuse you want for a freebie. The requirement is already decided by a dev and supported by the vast majority of the community so you are going to have to either grind out the 18 AAs and work your skills up more or not do the quest..... of you can keep whining like a kid that had his toy taken away.

Ultimately, all I can say is NEENER NEENER, by the time I am high enough in level to wear the item I'll be maxed out in all of my tradeskills and be ready to get that kick ass awesome reward and YOU will still be here whining because the devs agree with us and not you!! Suck it. Suck it long, suck it hard. I love that I will have something that you won't. (waits for the cheesy comment about you having a life or whatever that I don't have, lol)

                  In response to AbyssmalMage:

If you want to argue about the item requiring 18aa to get to 2100 tradeskill level to complete the aug quest I would only hope its just that. Based on some of the trivials we have seen in this expansion with the new cultural armor, the new cultural seals, and the templates needed even for base group/raid armor I would not be suprised if you would need mastery aa just to have reasonable success rates on the shawl combines. I know that is a sad thought for me. I have 2k+ aa on my main and have the mastery aa but I really wish they were not required to have success at tradeskills at the high end. On the flipside... I am willing to spend the aa to give me the BEST chances of succeeding and if that means it takes me a little longer to get some other group/gameplay aa features then I am making that choice/sacrifice.

In the end it comes down to the fact that I disagree that having all 7 skills at 300 is overly harsh for the quest. I believe that it is a worthy requirement.

I dunno Ngreth....I have 6 at 300 but that fletching is killing me! All my raid gear is stuff I consider far easier to obtain.

Every other niche in this game allows you to attempt it somehow. You can be 85'd into raids to see them. You can be taskadded to most tasks for flags.

Not tradeskills. God forbid you don't want to sit for hundreds of wasted hours clicking 2 buttons or farming zones or begging other classes to imbue or enchant so you can get a skill up.

Attempts should be allowed at any level. Let the failure rate speak for itself.
