  • trouble finding misty acorns

I had wanted to find misty acorns so that I could make some leatherfoot backpacks and haversacks. I thought finding the misty acorns would be very easy to find in the low level misty thicket area but boy was I wrong!
I took my halfling ranger out there and tried to find them as ground spawn and through foraging. My foraging is over 100 but during a few sessions I was unable to find any. I had trouble finding any on the ground too. I went back with a druid friend and over the course of an hour I was only able to get five (all of them thanks to her sharp sight!). I found them extremely difficult to spot as they are like small fluorescent green squares on a green grass background.
People have suggested equipping a fire beetle eye and/or turning off the display of foliage in the video options. I have done both and still have been unable to find them like that ( or forage them : ( ). To make matters worse, from what I understand they are random spawns that can spawn almost anywhere in the zone and rarely in the same spot. Does anyone have any helpful advice they can give me as I find trying to find them extremely frustrating and have almost lost hope in being able to make what look like great bags.

Does F7 work for targeting groundspawns? I know it does in Blightfire moors for those moss covered rocks but not sure if those are ground spawns. I know ppl say turn up the brightness all the way for foragin.

Somewhere there was a link to a picture of the ground spawn, so that you could see the scenery change. It looked like a green diamond on the ground (iirc). But you almost had to be on top of it. And I don't think it's targetable.

        Re: Trouble Finding Misty Acorns

Forage rates for Acorns is horrid, even with maxed Foraging and AAs even on a Druid. Ground spawns have many locations, but they tend to group up in certain areas, and respawn rate is fairly slow.

There's a N/S line along the Druid ring, that has several spawn points nearby. A large group of spawn points are just South of the Ring, and another set fairly North (and maybe a bit East or West) of the Ring fairly close to some ruins and/or Undead.

These two spots are where I've found most of them, but they can be pretty anywhere in the zone from other reports. I've also rarely found them along the Eastern wall.

          Colorblindness doesn't help

My brother can find the lil' buggers on the groud, but I can't see them.

How to find Misty Acorn Groundspawns

Here is what I do with my ranger when I am Acorn hunting.

Turn off the grass visual effect. (Makes the acorns MUCH easier to see.)
Move your camera so your looking down on your character from a distance above. Make sure you have a light source.

Run around the zone picking up acorns.

I get stacks of them using this method. I even occasionally manage to forage one.

If you have never seen a ground spawn in the zone and are not sure what to look for, just drop a foraged item you have on you and back off it a little so you can see it from above.

One last thing, I can confirm they can spawn anywhere in the zone. I never noticed any "concentration" of them in specific areas.

            Good luck!
