But aren't Macros supposed to be a banable(sp) offense? Sony needs to prosecute the offenders instead of those who honestly play the game.
Time and effort to track down and ban every macro user - considerable.
Time and effort to change a sell back or purchase price so that something isn't profitable - minimal.

Sony is out to make money - they can burn hundreds of hours trying to track down and stop the macrophiles in order to allow folks to do the slow way what they've always said that they oppose (selling back 100% vendor purchased items for profit) or they can simply remove what's causing folks to break the rules to begin with by typing a new price into the database.
    Cigarskunk!
No more EQ for me till they fix the crash bug.

Items that break-even or better on vendor sell back would damage the tradeskill market. Imagine if, instead of having 10 smiths making cultural, you had 1000. There would be no market for the people that really enjoyed tradeskills. The cost of skilling up serves as an entry barrier for those who aren't serious about tradeskills.
