    Here's the data.

    http://www.editgrid.com/user/kyroskr...00_speculation

Check out the second and third tabs for some graphs of how many combines would be required, on average, per skillup (not total, just for that one skillup).
    Sir KyrosKrane Sylvanblade
Master Artisan (300 + GM Trophy in all) of Luclin (Veeshan)
Master Fisherman (200) and possibly Drunk (2xx + 20%), not sober enough to tell!

Ok. So there is definitely more work to do if we ever pass 300!

Which means even if I had all the skills where I want for that increase, it will not happen with the expansion I am currently working on because code is overbooked already.

            Crazy idea of the month

Not sure if it easier to add a new skill, then to fix the one we have, but what about an NPC that will take your level 7 trophy and teach you 'Advanced xxx'
            at skill level 1.

You can put the really cool stuff in the new skill (but always make stuff to get you original level 7 trophy of course). The new skills would not be subject to the AA success levels (which you hate) and would use the same formula. You could even cap it really low (50-100) and make quests to raise, new trophy, etc etc.

Now that i typed this out i realize it would be more code/work then raising the exsisting skills to 350-400 but i think it would be cool anyhow.

I am not even really sure that there HAS to be a "realistic" path to anything post 300. We are still making the combines on exalted/sublimes, elaborate/elegant. Let there be at least SOME attraction to us trying combines post 300 for more than just plats. I have been making gourmet ice cream for 24+ years. Every now and then I find a better way to do things, a better recipe, a small breakthrough that makes my product and myself better.

Anything post 300 raw skill should be a sign of unrelenting, unwavering dedication.

(But I can still taste that vomit in my mouth.)

So much has changed between "then" and "now" in terms of Tradeskill design, upgrade paths / recipes and global drops that this might be a viable route for "advanced" tradeskills.

Introduce Advanced Tailoring, available via a quest which requires a 7/7 trophy to initiate. The quest rewards a new tradeskill container. Drops for recipes are tightly controlled via global drops. New valuable and needed recipes are available only with the new container. You could even incorporate "impressions" type logic to make available special tradeskill tools at certain points or for certain recipes so that progression is controlled more via quest/global drop quantity and to a lesser extent how well you can camp mindless spawns and click a combine button.

It would certainly make the 10% skill up bonus on cultural important.

There isn't much of a purpose or reason to raising the cap further anyway. We've seen how the newest recipes will work in the future.

                    1. Rare drops
                    2. Difficult combines

Even if Ngreth put recipes in the 500-525 difficulty range it will still be a 50% chance of success with max skills/AAs/trophy.

I previously bought 5 porous loam at 250k each. Lost 2 to failures, ended up with 3 pieces finished (which means those 3 pieces cost me about 425k each). But 3/5 is 60%, a bit low, but a small sample. If I had gone 4/5, I would have been happier.

But the point is these things are balanced for 300+trophy+AAs already. Raising the cap would just throw everything out of whack in terms of balance.

I recently went 7/9 on Elegant armor with 300 tailoring, salvage 2 and tailoring mastery 2... the person I made the armor for was ecstatic.

And on top of the mastery AA's causing problems and the formula itself causing problems, the trophies are starting to cause problems as many percentage based things do.

So there is much work to do before I can raise past 300.

I am currently married, and would like to stay that way.

Please don't raise the smithing cap past 300, as I will feel obligated to try and max it on all three characters - as well as any associated tropies.
