The new seals do not use regular existing foci. They had new foci created for them, ergo, the excuse that the foci on them were limited to whatever level due to having to use existing foci is factually incorrect.

I'm not particularly happy with the lame excuses being put out lately. I think its disingenuous and borderline offensive that either:

    1) so little is expected of players that some developers think this is a reasonable tactic, or

    2) its neither disingenuous or offensive, but pathetic that the people programming the game seem to recall so little or are not knowledgeable enough about it

I simply find it hard to believe that #2 is true, particularly when talking about stuff created within the past 2-3 months.

Say it like it is. You're going to get harrassed, insulted, praised, whined to, trash talked, etc etc no matter what you say, so at least being factual and logical is a good way to maintain respect and the benefit of the doubt.

I don't think the foci needs to change anyway. I'm not sure why anyone would expect them to, considering the context of these raid seals. I certainly find the whole "throw us a bone since you're nerfing us" tactic some seem to be taking with regard to asking for foci upgrades pretty illogical, considering the justification for the nerf is that the items were made too good as is.

Actually, that's not entirely true. The new seals (at least the Serpent's and Sunshard ones I've checked) appear to use new focii, because the focus name is unique on them. However, the underlying data shows that these names are just display overrides. Basically, it's a glitzy new name covering an older focus. The actual focus is an older, existing one.

If you head to Lucy and check out the Serpent's Seal of the Advisor, it appears the focus is Serpent's Advisor's Preservation. However, if you then click on that focus name to examine its details, you will discover that it is simply a renamed Mysaphar's Boundless Preservation, an older focus first introduced with TSS.

Edit: If you further check which items have this focus, you will see that it is in fact also the focus used for the Sunshard Seal of the Advisor from TBS. The displayed name is again different (Sunshard Advisor's Preservation), but it's the same actual focus.

Kyros is correct. We have a way to rename existing focuses so that they make more sense to the item they are on, or the expansion they are being used for.

I chose focuses that were available at the time and used the name over-ride to make them fit. You may (yes I am answering at home where I don't have the data...) find that some have way generic names like "L75 range 30" for the actual spell that is used, but on the item it is renamed to "Serpent's Range" or some-such.

I expect what then happened is that Prathun went through his list of stuff from Solteris, and changed the focuses from level 75 to 77. This change caught some of the ones I used, but not all of them.
