Actually, the stats posted above I think may have been for the melee version of aug since it showed 300 hp / 200 mana/end. I think the caster version of this aug would reverse those stats, i.e.: 200 hp, 300 mana.

From that point of view, I would consider this aug to be significantly inferior to the Serpent Seeker charm where you get approx 270 hp/mana with just the non-raid content (ground spawns plus solo and group mobs)....closer to 290 or 300 hp/mana when you consider one of the raid drops really comes from a one-group "add" mob.

The cultural charm may have some value still to bazaar hunters who missed out on Timmy's oil can and are too lazy to do serpent seeker, or to melee who dont care about the decreased mana/endurance. The mod2's were nice addition, but I really had hoped the aug would hit 300hp/300mana.

The thing is, the charms had 600/400/400 to hp, mana, end (depending on class), and had double the ac until it was nerfed with this patch.

If that's the cost of adding the mods, I'd rather they'd just left it as is.

I'll probably go back to the artisan charm since it has 30ac and the hp/mana/end is not much different.

Ngreth has posted on the EQLive boards that the charm is being reclassified as a tier 3 item, similar to the elegant armors and sublime augs. As a result, it will be getting a boost at some point in the future.

lol so the plan is...nerf everything now to make the end content raiders happy, then in 6 months put it back to where it was at release and everyone will be happy.

well, minus the few hunderd people that canceled their accounts

thanks for the info kyroskrane, going to check out the thread.

edit: heres the link if anyone wants to keep updated on it.

The reason it was initially showing up with 600/400/400 was because of a bug that was counting double.

Now the argument can be made that the stats are too low but it is not a nerf to the item. It was a bug. The bug was causing the item to have double its intended stats. I do not disagree that in its current form that this charm is woefully underpowered and weak and not worth using but that is the same with all of the cultural charms, imo, and my artisan's charm is still in my charm slot.

Yeah. That was a bug, really.

basically it goes through and adds up totals for what you are wearing.

total1 = all level 20 armor pieces worn
total2 = all level 40 armor pieces worn
total3 = all level 60 armor pieces worn
total4 = all level 70 armor pieces worn
total5 = all level 80 armor pieces worn

some additional math is done of these totals if you are wearing a symbol of a different level than the armor.

then for a final total I add all those together to get the % modifier on the charm.

              the BUG was
              total = total1+total2+total3+total4+total4

that last one should have been total 5

so what happened is, if you have a full suit of level 70 armor, instead of percentage chance of 90% like it should have been, that bug made it do 180%. And additionally it gave ZERO benefit of wearing the level 80 armor it was intended to be most synergistic with.

As for the stats, they will also be going up in the next patch (not until January at least)

Good news. Thx. For now I'll stick with Artisan charm since it has more HP than the elegant seal (at least for casters) and the type 7 + 8 slot combo is more powerful than 7 + 9 if you have one of the lucky type8 augs that fits charms

Hopefully with the new stats in January it will be a good upgrade even when giving up a 125/150 hp/mana aug in slot 8.

Oh, and thanks for the info on the bug above...it's not often that we get such a detailed explanation about the cause of a problem.

When this goes up is it going to be similar in stats to the Oil Can quest charm?

Is this charm intended to be tier2 or tier3 group armor quality?

The new target is T3 it was T2. So it will be better than now. It seems the str/int/wis etc stats were about right for T3, the saves went up, AC HP MANA END went up. Mods stayed basically the same with maybe a few minor tweaks.

I do not have the information here to compare the charm with the Oil Can, and I do not want to make any statements that may be false so I am leaving out a comparison to the Oil Can. I expect it to be slightly lower, but without the annoyance of keeping money just right that the oil can has. But in the end I am not 100% sure of this.
