It is looking like Wood Elves are getting a forage bonus for no reason we can figure out yet.

We are looking into it, but you may loos that extra skill if you do not have the AA (may still when it is fixed. not sure exactly how that will happen)

I didn't load up my wood elf druid forage bot, but my skill was (257) according to the last message I saw but was still showing 252/300 before the patch, I'll report back when I get a chance to check.

Not sure if this is related or not, but way back in the olden days (before unmodified skills could exceed 250), the soft cap on modified skill was 252. So people with geerloks would only need to get to skill of 240 (240 + 5% = 252), after which any high skill wouldn't have an impact on success rate. The reasoning was that the skills were stored as single byte values (range from 0-255) and that skills 253, 254, and 255 had some other special meaning.

I wonder if somehow the foraging machete goes through the old piece of code for determining modified skill since the machete came out in luclin times and may not have been fixed since the skill storage method had changed.

            Before the 12/5 Patch
            • I had raised my Wood Elf Druid's Forage skill to 300 (according to the skillup message).
            • The skills window displayed 252/300 whether I had my Foraging Machette equipped or not.

            After the 12/5 Patch
            • The skills window displays 252/250 when I have my Foraging Machette equipped and 250/250 when it's not.
I'm puzzled why it's still yellow when I have no modifying items equipped.

from what i understand a yellow skill text means something is artificially lowering your skill

                  Iksar forage

As an iksar, i just bought the Foraging general aa; it did absolutely nothing. No cap increase, still 50/50.

What I'm curious about (and much may be wrong) was that Kunark-era iksar got many modifiers:

                        1. Experience penalty
                        2. Huge innate faction hits
                        3. Large AC and HP regen bonuses
                        4. Ability to forage 200-level forages at 50 skill, just less often. Because 50/50 was maxed skill, it counted as 200/200.

I do know a 78 iksar necro who does now forage at 100/100.

I am saying that maxed iksar skill did count as all-tier foraging, but this could have been just a lot of RNG or it could have been real. Heck, this could have been removed when iksar penalty was removed.

                        Experiences?

Foraging got revamped around 2001 or so. The rares got added to the low table so that anyone could forage them regardless of skill. I am fairly sure the Iksar advantage was ended then.

Nonforager can buy the Forage AA, which gives them a skill cap of 50 in forage.
Is this really going to worth anything to us non foragers?

Not if you have a toon with higher forage skill. If your toon started with no forage skill or hard capped to 50 like iksars, it's probably better not to waste the AA's

So it mean as an iksar, i just wasted 3aa on a skill that do absolutely nothing for me still 50/50 on it when i was thinking that i would go up to 100. Is there a problem with iksar ?
