Meh, yes and no. It broke one of the most popular item collectors, and the only open-source one that distributes its entire collected item database for free. In turn, that broke or put a serious crimp in several other utilities that relied on that freely available information, such as most DKP systems and, in fact, the quick import option here at EQTraders that was mentioned on the home page a few months back.

For some single items it could be an issue as well.
OoW augs are a teamwork thing, I usually create them with 3-4 chars, 1 for the radiant cuts, 1 for the inlays, 1 for the acid precombines, and 1 for the final combines. Same goes for a lot of other tradeskill items like energeiac armor, you need a highly skilled jeweller and tailor/smith/potter to create the items. Imo all those tradeskillers should deserve some credit for the final product.

Not sure if I'd be happy if they ever added the tags. I like the idea of giving some credit to the person who created it, but the tags would be too limited to specific items. If stackable items won't get tags, that would mean bakers, brewers, researchers, poison makers and alchemists will not get any credit for (most) of their work =(

The free advertisement that would come with the tags might appear nice, but it also has some downsides.
I prefer selling my creations on my traders, if people need any combines they'll just contact my trader and I can look up the bazaar component costs right away to let them know how much something would cost them. The people that catch me on my main are often returning costumers that bring their own components, or people that looked me up on the msg board here. I like keeping it that way; the people that do a little research can always grab a hold of me.
I'm really not interested in all the tells from people on my main that want me to create the high end gear, but are unwilling to supply the components or to pay the bazaar price for them. (And there's way to many players on my server that expect me to go kill greenies for hours so I can make them a really cheap item because they're too lazy to go hunting for it themselves.)

wouldn't be easy to add a kind of "aug" slot dedicaced to memorize the crator name? instead of adding a tag link to add name?

I wouldnt like having my name on tradeskill items I make, As it is I get tons of tells in a day from people who I know and like about anything from can you make me soandso to whats the best way to skill up. I cannot imagine, nor do I wish to experience an entire server knowing my main is a higer end tradeskiller.

Hi, welcome to my world. =)

Most of my friends know I'm a tradeskiller, so they ask me their questions. I've got no problems answering them, but if the questions get a little in depth, or I get too busy, I'll point them here.

On the other hand, most of the EQ world also knows I'm a tradeskiller, through my contributions here and on Allakhazam. Every once in a while, I'll get a tell, "Hey, I used your quest write up on Alla's!" or "Aren't you the guy from EQTraders?" and it's a great feeling. Most of the time, though, it's some guy I've never heard of, asking me to sell a 90K item for 50K, because that's all he has -- and of course he gets angry and accuses me of being a liar and a greedy pig when I calmly explain that 50K is below my cost.

On the whole, though, there's a massive sense of pride when I get a referral from someone who bought my items and passed on the tip that I can supply high end armors and augments. It's a feeling of accomplishment, and it makes up for all of the wacky, wonky tells from idiots who think I only exist to craft for them, when they want it, and at a price they want to pay, regardless of the market reality. Names on crafted items would increase both the good tells and the bad, of course, but on the whole, I think I'd be in favor of it -- so long as it doesn't bump out the time slot allocated to work on an actual problem, as opposed to a vanity fix.
