  • The Buried Sea

Before the mods start looking at me crossly, the NDA has been lifted. Here's the link.

There's limited tradeskill stuff in The Buried Sea expansion. No revamps of trades. We can make the Energeiac Equipment for lower-to-mid levels (higher level stuff is dropped or bought with the new currency.) That's the equipment that is affected if you equip an Energeian power source. The power source goes in a new equipment slot, and one effects all the Energeiac Equipment that you have. I don't know if these would constitute new skill up paths for smithing and tailoring though.

There's also some brewing, baking and a bit of tinkering, but for the most part, the tradeskilling is concentrated on the Energeiac stuff.

I do hope though that it provides at least a bit of relief for Tailoring. The proof will be in seeing if the dropped part comes in often enough, but I hope it helps at least part of the way. And it is hard for me to tell for sure if something drops "often" enough when it drops as widely as the parts for this do.

usually the often enough part is more an issue of how easily farmable it is.
doesnt matter if it drops randomly of 100 mobs. That does not really secure or make it a viable route to skill up on.

When i choose a skillup route I look at

Is the mob that drops components soloable in large enough quanteties? ( droprate to kill rate important aka drop:kill)
non farmable costs in currency and time ( vendor costs & enchantments )
      subcombines

other may have different prioreties, but I like to think the biggest concern people have when choosing a skill up route is how much bloody time to I have to spend getting the dropped components.

Also personally I bloody hate having to many different components. Like elemental tailoring gah.

Anyways I welcome anything that will give me a break from my otter genocide. Just dont make it to bloody complex =P

well, since it will be on such a wide range of NPC's you are likely to find something "easily" farm-able

all I have in mind is that time when the sulfur and salpeter drops where increased. Origionally it was said that drop rates where masivly icnreased, but due to the fact that they are such a relativly widespred item on loot tables and there where no clear way to farm the sulfur other then just hitting merchants it was decided to even further increase the drop rate.

If I remember incorrectly please say so. But Id always prefer to have a spesified target which drops the components and then yo ucan focuse your effort on that type of mob or mobs.

            Why buy TBS?

I own all expansions up to The Buried Sea which didn't look very interesting to me. Now that it's confirmed that there really isn't much to support tradeskilling in TBS I don't find that expansion very compelling at all. Maybe something will happen to change my mind?

Tradeskilling is still developing too slowly for my tastes despite the much better efforts and communications of Ngreth. It seems to be the attitude of SOE management that's impeding the advancement of tradeskills in EQ.

I'm now playing Vanguard which has a much more interesting (to me) crafting system, at least at the present.
But Vanguard's crafting system may hit a wall too at some time.

Anyone have a link to a discussion of new features? So far doesn't sound like I'm gonna want it and I would like to do some more research on TBS

There is an NDA lifted thread on the EQ forums (veteran's lounge) Sorry cant go there from here. I did not see much discussion of tradeskill stuff, so keeping on topic I can't really add anything. However, the gist of it is there is a lot of groupable content and instances, the progression stuff is supposed to be good and there is little raid content (said to be very hard, intended for post-TSS guilds). The spells are acquired like TSS.

The hook feature for guilds is the Guild Banner, which an officer plants in a zone so that the rest of the guild can port to it from the guild hall.
