A superstition with a concrete fringe benefit? I'll take it!

I'm not sure if I believe in the superstitious part that moving helps jog the RNG, but it can't hurt. Moreover, you just gave me a reason to shift more of my tradeskilling to Abysmal Sea! It's a great source of ingredients, but the NPC spam is appalling. But if I'm using a portable container, I can get away from the NPC by jumping overboard and practicing swimming. (I used to have it maxed, but the caps got raised when TSS came out. Coincidentally, my one character who's since re-maxed Swimming is my brewer, and he doesn't have a portable still yet. (Need to work on my tinkerer. Hm, I'll bet he could use some swimming practice...)

Unrelated but I will tell you where to raise swimming ^_^

Get an EB item and autorun into the corner of PoTranq heh

Unlike PoK, if your keyboard is bumped you don't jump uot of water

Took me 30 min to an hour to get like 50 points ..

Hehehe, this is a funny thread

I never use a trophy anywhere but primary, and if I forget to equip it before I open a container I fully close and re-open it with the trophy equipped.

On long runs with the new ui I click the "combine" button in a different place each click.

Stats cap so quickly anymore it's a lost habit, but I am somewhat nostalgic about a wisdom suit.

When I was skilling up I always closed the container and reopened it after each skillup.

Random Number Generator - the thing on EQ's side that determines your success/failure on combines and successful skillups (among many other things) - and almost every tradeskiller's mortal enemy

I never announce skill-ups in /gu or in friends channel, or out loud to my husband. The RNG hates braggarts.

A watched pot never boils, therefore, during a long run of combines, I only *occasionally* glance up to see if my skill has increased. I don't do this one if I am only one or two points away from a trivial.

I went a different direction on that. I almost never "watch", but I've set up audio triggers for skillups as well as for running out of ingredients, failures, and a few other t/s related messages (e.g., out of inventory space). Then I can sit with one hand clicking combine, the other typing my autoinventory-times-3 hotkey, and read a book, with the audio triggers calling my attention when needed.

But I do have the similar habit that, when I'm in a long skillup run, I will often not check what level I've reached even when I "hear" a skillup message.

Its silly but I actually have a hotkey that says ":crosses her fingers and prays hard to the EQ tradeskill gods!". Laugh if you want but it works!

Maybe thats why it takes me so long to skillup >_>

I announce everything to my guild XD

Well, I announce it until half the guild tells me to shutup which happens relatively quickly

Due to regular advertising, length of service (I still remember making bows and backpacks of arrows in South Karana back in 1999) and generally having the lowest prices I have a huge list of smithing, tailoring and jewelcraft customers.

From time to time though I get a referal who will ask me: Do you have all the Salvage and Mastery AA's, do you have your trophy, what is your success rate?

More out of providing information than bragging I will tell them: max INT, max skill, max trophy and all the AA's, don't worry I have all the bells and whistles, your combine is relatively safe with me.

                          Whereupon, invariably...

You lack the skill to make this item.

Therefore, I no longer extoll my personal virtues before making items.

I'm not entirely sure whether this qualifies as a superstition, but when I'm making the master's bar/swatch for DoN smithing/tailoring, I do the combines one by one - my "logic" for this was that it gave the Salvage ability more chance to save the rare dopped component than if I bunged 6 of them in and pressed 'combine'...

Since I started doing my research combines in Coranthus, I haven't been able to do them anywhere else. If I try, I end up running in circles cursing a lot.
I tried combining Celestial Solvent, a Raw Rough Hide, Rough Hide Solution and a Skinning Knife. But the result was such an oxymoron, it opened a rift into another universe. I fell through into one of Nodyin's spreadsheets and was slain by a misplaced decimal.
