Frostfell Fishing and Baking Quests

30 mins and two stacks of bait is all it took me for the everfrost trout.

i spent 15 mins and a stack of bait at the fishermans waterhole. no trout.

then i went into and up the river into the cave and fished from the cave. i got two in my first two casts there. then after almost another stack of bait i got the other two. not 4 - 7 hours needed =)

oh and i used a small lantern as suggested =)

I didn't use a lantern, fished in the underwater cave, and got all 4 trout in about half an hour. A guildmate of mine got about 12 in the same amount of time.

They seemed clumpy... two right away, then nothing for 20 minutes, then 2 in a row again.

Heck, we're tradeskillers; finding dorkiness with the RNG is nothing new to us!

I just wish I could use the bait pail more often than once every 15 minutes, though. It takes, what, about 5 minutes to go through a stack of bait; that's what the timer should be set to.

What did you have equipt in your secondary? Is it possible it is also a light source (I know many weapons are)

For the whole fishing quest, my warrior had equipped in the secondary slot a simple lightstone. My wizard was holding a conjured ball of light. Neither seemed to be better or worse than the other in terms of catching the rare fish in the various spots. And based upon other people's experiences, my results were pretty average to good overall (save for a rash of snapped fishing poles in the last spot - Everfrost).

Everfrost Trout the EASY WAY

Fire Beetle Eye in secondary hand.
This is a heat source.

Lantern in secondary hand.
This is NOT a heat source.

Use the heat source in secondary hand for Everfrost Trout.
Ask for the quest twice to get the secret hint notes.

Lantern is for the fish in Feerrott.

With the number of people reporting success with a simple lantern, you may wish to temper your exuberance.

In fact, one can use the Blessed Coldain Shawl as a heat/light source, which for my very unscientific sample did better than when I tried with a small lantern. So, I suspect that most any light source will work, but ymmv.

I think the excitement when Rashere announced he was opening the bag quest to those who missed the earlier part buried the second part of his announcement: The fishing quest script was expanded to accept a wide variety of lightsources. That is why there is such a huge discrepency in the ease of fishing.
