  • Perhaps a different route on Tradeskilling?

I had another thought while doing one of the Tradeskill Trophies. With the previous Trophy you had multiple sub-combines that involved several different skills, making it essential you had a high level of skill (or friend with high skill) in order to make the seal and do the final combine.

If you have a 60% chance to make something, you can hope the RNG will bestow its blessings on you and you will have nifty item. I made my first Trueshot Bow at 78. Did I deserve a Trueshot? No, I was just lucky and too dim to figure out what the likelihood of failure was.

Perhaps if the final combines for better items had multiple sub-combines that would be daunting to the better informed, we could see the benefits of having a high skill rather than just hope for luck with the RNG.

I am open to criticism and suggestions on this one.

P.S. the current score is Thoughts: 2 Boredom: 0

Actually, the jewelcrafting and pottery steps for the old-style trophies all trivial at 16. A long time ago, they used to be higher, but at least since the tradeskill interface went in, they're been at 16. It's not no-fail, but it's also pretty darn easy to get your skill in any tradeskill high enough to hit 95% success on those.

ahh, but prior to that it was danged tough. In my day....(turn on gumpy old voice)... Failure rates on seals were quite high! People would rant and rave for hours about the loss of a few rare expensive gems! Other people would hoot with laughter at them after making their TS Trophies! And we liked it that way! Also, we ran uphill to vendors and had to use looms/forages/brew barrels in cities, often where people hated us! ...(grumpy old voice off)

Yeah, I know that changed quickly, but it was tough for a while. During that time people were truly impressed by them

Thank you for helping my sanity, since PoR came out I have made dozens of artisans seals to sell to folk in bazaar and noticed the trivials were only 16 - which was really bugging me because I remember way back when trophies first came out I failed loads of seal and mounting combines and I was thinking if trivial was 16 back then also I must have been really cursed by the range.
