I spent a bit of time running around Elddar Forest looking for ground spawn.
There seems to be quite a bit there although not a lot of variety. Seems to be a bit buggy too.
Pomegranete and green apples for the most part with a few treant branches for the rares.
Pomegranetes look like a black and grey striped rock and can be seen for a good distance away.
Green apples look like a bright green diamond.
Treant branches look like a cracked staff or fine steel staff laying on the ground.
The buggy part was positioning. Sometimes they are easy to see, laying on the ground, sometimes not.
Sometimes they look like they are buried in the dirt with just a tiny sliver exposed. (some logic to this, but i suspect there are also some buried beneath the surface that will never be seen until we get a dig function)
And I've seen a few that appeared to be floating in the air. (waist high to an elf). At that point I was tempted to start looking up in the trees. But these are "ground" spawn, not air spawn.
I suspect also that some are hidden within the trees. It shouldn't happen, but if the mobs can get inside the trees, the ground spawn can. The trees are huge and the mobs do not respect their boundries. I've seen it before many times showing just enough of the mob to know it's there. Funny to see the tip of a pegasus wing poking out the side of a tree. Aggrivating to know that the mobs / drops are sometimes there but out of reach.
