  • Trophy and skill change

I couldn't find an answer to this; I apologize if it's been asked before.

My DE smith had (still has actually) a skill of 115 when he got his smithing trophy quest, which is a whole lot easier than the quest for my 255 dwarf smith. What happens if I skill him up considerably before I complete the quest? i.e. what if he is a 222 smith when he does the quest turn-ins and the subsequent combine? Will the trophy evolve to his level at that point in time? Or does it somehow remember what level he was when he got the quest?

I guess the main point of asking this is - if it is true that the lower level quest is easier, and the trophy will evolve to the skill at quest completion, then it would seem like, for anyone who is not already high-level in a skill, that the thing to do would be to get your trophy quest as soon as you possibly can and then go ahead and skillup as high as you can before you complete the quest. Is this true?

Also, what is the lowest skill you can have and still receive the quest?

The reward for the quest is a certificate to level the trophy up some.

If you were to do that before completing it, you would have to spend time doing non-trivial combines to catch the trophy back up to your skill level.

    It will not automatically upgrade.

If I have 0 skill, I can get the trophy, it is the beginners trophy.

I thought the trophy required at least 50 skill to get? (Not that it's hard to do so; you can get your skill that high for free at the Abysmal vendors, or you can drop a few PP or go hunting for a while.)

I couldn't get a quest at skill level 20, so I'm guessing that 50 is the minimum.

So, you're saying that if I get the quest at skill 115, skillup to 250 and then complete the quest, I will get a trophy 'attuned' to skill 115?

Yes. If you have skill of 115 when you get the quest. Your results for completing the quest will be the 100 level.

The trophy will gain exp at a very fast rate AFTER that to catch up to your 250 skill.

So tradeskill beginners should use the beginning skillups in Abysmal Sea to get to 54 and then shoot straight out and get their trophy. Excellent idea! I think the developers are right on top of their game with these.

yeah but what happens if you get your expert trophy (like me) and a high 200 skill.

Then, you ding 300, now you have a 5/7 trophy that levels up slower than a bard meditates.

This is going to be the more common situation, I just hope I can destroy mine and do the master quest..

Once you ding 300, the trophy will gain exp at a much faster rate.

Except that Ngreth wrote the script for the way in which the trophy gains exp to be, I believe AT LEAST 10 times faster if you have achieved a higher tier than what your trophy is at. This way, the trophy catches up to you a lot faster.

                    They said it

it is 11X (if you are only one tier ahead of the trophy, 21X if 2 tiers, 31X if 3 tiers, etc. Remember tiers are in steps of 50 skill )
