As far as I know this is the only drop that takes high level flags to get, altho I havent worked on them all as of yet.

Actually, if you do the turn-in for the Shimmering Aligned Ore, you get 2 Bars back... so you only need 1 Ore for the quest/item.

Not that it stinks that you still need to get into a locked zone to get something for this quest though...

The bazaar isn't locked. Easy enough to get it from there, either buying directly or setting up a buyer if no one has any for sale.

The Quests can be divided in two parts, I think:
          1st: do Kindergarden stuff
2nd: go to bazaar and clean out your pockets to get those funky rare-drops

          oh - and part 3:
go to RM and start farming giants again since the rare-drop-prices are beyond good and evil...

Personally I would have liked to see Abysmal Sea styled quests - you get some parts to combine, turn them in, get more parts etc. with increasing difficulty until hitting the current mark.

I fetched all my tasks yetserday for all tradeskills i am performing. A short glance on all tasks made me wonder if I should solve them.

About smithing I wont talk as Ngreth has said he will go over the shadowscream combine as part of taks. Some others need components that are francly spoken "off shore" - if you are not a porter and you have to travel 20 mins minimum to a farming zone and camp there for hours to get a drop - that's insane. If camping is needed - keep it in vicinity of our normal play areas - some do tradeskilling as primary eq gamestile others do it in between raids.

M2C to the numbers for evolving a trophy - Ngreth should think that over too.
beeing a human paladin I only have some recipe to skill from 282 upwards at fletching - material for 1000+ combines would take 1-2 years in gathering and 2 Million in pp. Or 1000 combines of mistletoe sickles - will cost me 40$ real cash due to mouse break down.

Not to start an arguement...but I don't see one hint of a problem with a few hours of time spent getting items for these. As far as your last quote goes, as a primary tradeskiller, I cannot "switch gears" and go to a high end raid just because I want to...I have to put time and effort into it. I don't see a problem with the reverse.

Now, I agree that items that are EXTREMELY hard to get or EXTREMELY rare are a problem. Shadowscream materials do NOT fit into that category. And there is no zone in EQ that is too far to go to in order to obtain ingredients...even without ports. Heck, you can run from GD to Western Wastes (no ports, even PoM) in probably around 20 mins...and that's a long run for EQ.

Or, you could look into new recipes (for the fletching trophy), or...just setting for the 12% and combine as you can with no hurry...getting 15% whenever you get it. You're ahead by 7% already. /shrug

Oh yeah...and new bags (not a BIG deal, but still...)

I, for one, am fairly happy with the trophies. They aren't amazing, statwise, but that's not what they are for. If you don't want them, don't do them. Some of the recipes needed might need to be double-checked, but unless the item doesn't drop or is exceedingly rare (or is trivial too high for the level), why change it?
