  • Master Quests and TS Trophy

I already have a TS Trophy for each of the tradeskills. From reading my new Master quest it says I need to create a grandmaster XXX trophy. Does this mean I have to destroy my old one and make yet another one? Kinda gimps those that already were GMs.

I have the money, I just hate to spend it on something I already own. Is there a trade-in or work around so I don't have to make all new trophies?

You don't need to make another Trophy, all you have to do is hand the Field Coordinator your old GM trophy, she'll update your task and give you back your old Trophy to later turn into the judge.

In the quest text it says you just need to give your existing trophy to the coordinator instead of making a new one. She flags that step as complete and hands it back to you. Then you give your trophy to the judge for credit on the turn-in step.

I recommend saving that for last since, as the quest text says, the judge will keep anything given to her.

        Thanks

I didn't get time to read much of the quest except to see it requires some rare drops for a few of them. Because of course Sony is bringing the servers down in the middle of my normal playtime again. Not that I am surprised. This happens every expansion, give it a couple weeks to sort things out.

After looking at the stuff needed for all my tradeskills to upgrade my existing trophies I feel punished that I spend that much time and plat for doing tradeskills. I got the impression that one has to be in a raiding-guild to get some of the things already needed for Journeyman...

None of them shoudl have had raid only drops, or locked zone drops. Or if it was a locked zone not a hard one. The only locked zone drops i can think off offhand are the mountain tea leaves.

I dont remember any of the general master trophies having anything that was difficult to get in them. I cant imagine the lower level ones would.

Only rare thing i came accross was the stone beans for the the brewing one. I had never seen any drop and i killed a ton in omens. But, went to bazaar and got one for 1 plat heh.

Guess the nightmarewood saps for the tailoring one are a bit rarer as well, i only had 1 on a mule and after wasting 50 spiders and not getting any i just bought em in bazzar.

One of my fears now is that many of the items that were harder to come by but found in baz will spike dramaticy in price now that there is a quest associated with them. I have been using Scale ore for months to work on JC, today I log in and the cheapest ones are at 500p each. I am used to paying 100 - 125p.

It appears like the epic 1.5s part of the point is to make people use all the expansions. Not inherently bad, but some of those zones are empty 24/7.

Be glad you aren't a tinker. Severed feran tentacles were running 5k before IF you could find them. The expert's trophy requires 3, and the master's requires 8. Something tells me I am not going to find these for anywhere close to 5k each now.

I made an ice cream churn recently and they were prices 3k to 8k each (for boot gaskets), need 3x for the ice cream churn. They are indeed very rare drops.

What makes me sad is... the old GM trophy is Lore. And I have sentimental attachment to the one I have, it reminds me of someone who no longer plays EQ but I cared for deeply, who would always help me with my baking, if only to keep me company at the oven, and cheered me on as I made my Spoon. I know it's all pixels, but it makes me sad to have to give it up to get the new one -- making another one just wouldn't be the same.

So umm, wield your trophy, kill yourself, make a new one, turn it in, loot your old one. Keeps the same item hehe.

Oh, now I hate you with all my heart cal =P

I've come across like 2 people that have *ever* seen it drop, spent all day killing trying to get one, nadda. There is something wrong when I get half a dozen augs and still haven't gotten any of this during 7 hours total mass killing in those old omens zones =P

The master smithing test has pale velium long sword as one of its items, this requires two shimmering aligned ore per attempt. I *think* this only drops in KT so for most of us this one is going to be impossible to try and get ourselves...at least any smaller guild isnt going to be KT flagged.

As far as I know this is the only drop that takes high level flags to get, altho I havent worked on them all as of yet.

There is at least one other:

Taelosian Mountain Tea Leaves for Brewing 6 come from the same zones as Shimmering Aligned Ore.

Oh, and Highland Sludge, from the same zones as well, is needed for Research 4, 5, 6.

So KT+ is needed for quite a few of the trophies. Not just Smithing 6.
