  • Top 10 Update for Feb 2006

Howdy everyone. I think it's time for a review of the top 10 list. We have had a couple issues that were competed now, so we have room for at least 2 more. I don't know if the expansion will address anything besides those two.

The full text of the top 10 list can be found here. Be sure to scroll down to the last thread to get the most updated version.

    1) Rotating stock on vendors
    2) Nitram Anizok's plight Completed with the Dec 05 patch
    3) New Bag Designs NEW item added with the 2/4/05 update
    4) Mass Combines With One Click - NEW item added with the 6/3/05 update
    5) Tradeskill components are unreasonably rare - Item modifed with the 8/5/05 update
    6) Balancing the Grand Robe / Grand Tunic / Phylactery quest for melees
    7) Reduce the amount of storage necessary - Partially Implemented with the 6/29/05 Patch - New Information with 7/3/05
    8) Difficulty in skill up paths to 300 NEW item added with the 3/4/05 update
    9) Tradeskill Super-trophy - New item (sort of) with the 8/4/2005 Update
    10) Increase Bank Space. - New Item 12/2/05 Addressed with the expansion Prophecy of Ro.

So, items 2 (Niltral Anizok's Plight) and 10 (Increase Bank Space) are now addressed. Does that make item 7 go away as well (Reduce Amount of Storage?)

In lieu of these two items, what do we want to add in? Cound be an old item brought back, or something completely new. Or we could lease out our two slots to another class at a favorable rate.

So, what are your thoughts, ideas, suggestions?? Let's get a discussion going, and if a consensus forms, I'll add that to the list next time.

While adding bank slots increases the available storage space, I don't think it really does anything to address the "reduce the amount of storage necessary" - making stack sizes larger (tradeskill related) and going back and reducing the amount of no trade stuff required in quests (non tradeskill related) are the two ways of addressing this.

Someone once told me that the amount of clutter an individual has will always run to overflowing the available space for said clutter. More bank slots makes the space available for clutter go up; but number 7 was about reducing the clutter - not about the space its in.

      Is not going to happen

You guys can leave it on the list if you want, but it will stay there forever. I would tyhink it would be more productive to have something else on the list.

the stack sizes part though is still something that is likely to be adressed in the future. It is just not at the top of my list of things to do.

Just a whimsy, but I wonder if it would be possible to control the bank space of another character on the same account from your main, without having to log back and forth?

Would be a nice thing to have, if it's possible.

Maybe adding a label to a bag/container would be possible? Kinda the same suggestion as dying them a different color I guess, but a mouse-over label that the player can edit would be nice. Wouldn't it get great to label your bags as "GM molds", "Geerlocks/tools", "Quest drops" or "BiC Crap"?

I would not want this configurable label to carry on when an item is traded...that opens the way for abuse. I saw many malicious traders mis-naming items in SWG to rip off inattentive buyers. Might be able to do it as part of the UI or tied to a bank/inv slot rather than a specific bag.

Just throwing a new idea out there. I know with 16 bank slots, I have toruble organizing it sometimes and find my quest items or digging out my old 7th Hammer key to help with a monk epic. 24 slots will make it even more complicated....but never doubt the extra space will still be very welcome!

The one on the list dealt with creating a sort of "keyring" for commonly used tradeskill utensils (dairy spoon, pie tin, etc.) so you wouldn't have to have a couple bags in the bank full of an item that's not used periodically, but you wouldn't want to throw out and create a new one every time.

Ngreth came down pretty hard on my post, so I PM'd him about it, and I wanted to make sure that everyone else knew what I was saying, as well.

The point I was trying to make is that while increasing the available space is a good thing, it does not do anything about the amount of clutter in the space, it only makes space for more clutter. I do not expect (nor would I raise it here with the expectation if I did expect this) the number of items required for various quests to be reduced.

How bout making more tradeskill quivers which can double as bags and finally be useful to carry around.

You know there's a dude in PoK who you can hand in your epic to, he flags you for having your epic so that you can use the title for having epic even when you're dead (and epic is not on you).

And there's a whole lot of quests where you hand in items and receive a flag. Few of which are strongly related to tradeskilling - the Abysmal Sea newbie quests.

And many tradeskill containers already check if you have a quality, like if you're a woodelf or you've done the Abysmal Sea quest.. or even if you're a priest type (Ikkinz 4 parchments).

People have been requesting a large tradeskill quest again and again.

How about put it all together and have many long quests that flag you for having a tradeskill tool, like a Smithy Hammer. It's a convenience, but a convenience I'm sure many people would work for. You still need the tools for learning new recipes, but the flags would work on all learned recipes.

If the tool is still needed for the new recipe, then it does not reduce the amount of items in my bank. I don't have as many as Qaladar, but I do have 5 bags devoted to tools....and 3 bags to patterns/molds.

I would still need to keep the tools for the off chance that I would make something new that would require it. It would then only reduce the amount of items I need on me for the combine, which isn't the goal.

But it does bring up an interesting problem, how would the container know to try it with or without certain tools for an unlearned recipe. /rubs chin

would be rather snazzy if our super-trophey could be used to summon the normal weight reduction bags, but full of the utensils reqd for that skill (including collapsabiles) no drop/ no rent. I have an entire mule just for carrying the tools of the trade.

Since PoK is open to all, how about removing the restriction of PoK forges/looms/etc. and have those recipes work in everything?

Since I believe they are different containers, and as such, it would require a seperate recipe database entry, or a seperate field in a database, consolidating this would cut down on the database needed to maintain recipes.

Mind you, this is all theory.

did not mean to be "hard" on the post just very clear

And the roboar thing is already a possibility on my list of "future expansion ideas" but not set in stone.

And while the speed may be able to be affected... the vibration is part of the animation, and extremely unlikely to be changed.

The only reason I did not do the speed increases already was I needed to consult with the Team Lead about it before I did it, because we would not be letting people create boars, just upgrade existing ones... and I wanted to be sure with the lead that it was okay to do this with something that was a box incentive and not something everyone has the ability to get in game.
