You can solo them, but you have to have three in your group when you request the task. They can be bots, afk traders, or just random people. They can even drop the group or log out, they just can't drop the task.

The number of Glossy Drake hides has dropped pretty dramatically with the advent of DoD.

Dropping from 25 per day to 10 per day is still 100 times the rate of silk drops.

I've bought hundreds of scales and hides to make items. I've seen 7 silks ever.

I wish I could decide what I get to spend my time on, but I do not. I have been assigned another task that is curently taking all of my time, so this got dellayed. The whole cultural drops (not JUST coarse silk) is among the first on my list as soon as I do have time.

The one small light at how long it is taking for coarse silk drop rates to be properly reviewed is that the longer it takes to get done, the better a long term fix there will be. Adjusting the rates after interest in DoN has dropped considerably in light of new expansions is better than adjusting it when DoN was still 'the' place to be and the newest expansion. This way hopefully when the adjustment comes it will be all that is ever needed.

IMO, that would only be true if the time that is passing was 'time spent on the solution.' The chances are the amount of time (and the solution itself) would be the same if they were done now as if they were done in January.

If I recall, the Ascent spider mission is "Death comes Swiftly", and yes, it drops silks; it's an easier mission (they lowered the crystal reward to reflect this). I did two of these about a week ago for a friend who's factioning for progression, and 3 coarse silks dropped. This was a bit higher rate than usual, but it's certainly overall the mission in which I've seen the most silk.

I don't understand why Crystallized Sulfur and Saltpeter can get a 10X increase in drop rate within a couple weeks of Tradeskill Community feedback, but an issue with a drop that affects whether Cultural Armor can be made at the Grandmaster level for all Silk classes can not get similar attention.

The fix to Sulfur seemed straightforward.

Coarse Silk drops so infrequently as to say that it does not drop at all.

I'll pretend to field a guess.

Cultural armor has a much stronger impact on the world of Norrath. They have to be far more careful when deciding whether to increase drops. An arbitrary increase has huge implications to an economy and the players average gear levels. It's obviously broken, but without research, it could be even more broken if it's changed.

Sulfur and saltpeter do not have that kind of impact.
