  • Question

Got a question for you guys out there. I have seen this linked in general chat but I don't know if it has hit live servers or not. If it has, please list any info you have on it, such as any recipies and such. Here is the link for the main item http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=44481As i said any information anyone has would be great. Thank you.

Looks like the new DoD tradeskill augs, and they haven't been made on live servers yet (if they have someone's holding out on some serious info). The container to make the final aug combine, Ambleshift's Amazing Automated Amalgamator, is made with tinkering, and nobody can seem to figure out one of the components for it - Scrindite's Mechanoinstruction Reader. The amalgamtor requires several rather expensive subcombines with 351 trivial tinkering. No clue what the final combine trivial will be, but I'm kinda scared to think about that. There's an ongoing thread in the tinkering forums here about that. Also, I don't think the holepoker recipie (or one of the relating combines) has been found yet either. I've been too worried about the tinkering item to bother with that one yet. So until these recipies are figured out, nobody can make those augs. Oh, and if those tradeskill requirements aren't a tall enough order, the drops for the augs seem to be coming off hard missions and raids only.

It's this stupid mechanoinstruction reader that's got everything blocked up, some say intentionally.

At any rate, Poxy's book clearly spells out the recipe, but the recipe is DNC when you actually try to make it.

So that's why you're seeing instructions, but no new augments. The holepoker has been made, and with it, you can make the instructions.

FYI, I think the trivial on the Holepoker is reported to be 404 tinkering. Considering the lack of AA support, and the lack of decent mods for tinkering unless you go back to Luclin to farm... I find this trivial laughable. Anyone with the moxy to make it over the 351's 4 times should get a no-fail combine on the amalgamator in my humble opinion.

Holepoker isn't even tinkered to my knowledge. I think it's blacksmithed at a relatively low trivial. And even if it was 404, it's a cheap combine.

          Nah.

There may be a mistake in the book... but it was not intentional.

Unfortunately... I will not even be able to look at it until monday to see what is up.

You're thinking of the casing which is smithed. The holepoker itself is 404 tinkering.

..... what is the intent of this item? I don't have the books so wondering what it's used for. I've made the lights for it... but that's about it.

It is the container which you use to make the final Aug combine in.

Reports indicate that this rather expensive container is eaten by the combine, too.

Look up Bazu Seal, Chronal Seal and Discordant Seal on Lucy, for some examples of what can be made.

Was poking around on Lucy. I put in Last Blood and got several hits...the couple that i checked all said that they were live.

                        Last Blood Seal = 220hp
                        Bazu Seal = 180hp
                        Discordant Seal = 120hp
                        Chronal Seal = 55hp

Given the nature of the container, I won't even bother with anything less than bazu.

Yeah, and I think that's one issue with those things. With the massive expenses in plat, time, and skill to even attempt the container, as well as the further rare drops (eg mechanoinstructions, of which only melee appear to be found so far) -- it doesn't seem to make sense to even bother with the lower ones, so they won't be used.

Though I'm not sure how much they would be, anyway, since raids appear to be required for all from the chronal to the last blood... so odds are, if you can get the chronal stone, you can probably get (at least some of) the further ones as well.

I would gladly use the Discordant compared to the augs that are currently in my Type 12 slots on Don Cultural. Currently, I have 2 40hp +5 all svs in the Bp/Legs and 1 35hp +5 all stats in my arms.

Given the possible other bonuses... even the raw 120 hps alone is somewhat worth it.

As for the time sink and pita factor... doing suits of masters and grandmaster armor is no easier.

I'm a bit confused. The AAAA costs less that 20k assuming no failures. If you triple that to allow for falures and profit, you're looking at 60k.

Now compare that to the OoW augs. You start with a dropped aug and add up to 80k in components. The difference with DoD augs is, once you get the parts, including buying an AAAA, you KNOW you've got the aug. There's zero failures on the final combine.

Aren't the chronal seals BETTER than the OoW augs? Will they go go in slots where OoW augs won't?

I dunno. I think folks are assuming way too high of price for the AAAAs.
I tried combining Celestial Solvent, a Raw Rough Hide, Rough Hide Solution and a Skinning Knife. But the result was such an oxymoron, it opened a rift into another universe. I fell through into one of Nodyin's spreadsheets and was slain by a misplaced decimal.
