90 master's sagacious armband combines
4 skillups
Started at 235, ended at 239.
Wis was 270 (max at my level and aas), and I was successful on all but two of the combines. (Tailoring Mastery 1, not that it should matter for skillups)
/sigh. I guess it's just a bad run, but the skillup per attempt ratio is way down to what it was when I last tried (223-235) pre-patch.
Shissar scales just aren't that common that I can see amassing 400+ more of them just to max out the one-scale combines. The fact that the end product cannot be sold to merchants, is untributeable, and (so far) has not moved at all on my trader, even for absurdly low costs, also means I'm blowing ~1500 pp per 20 combines in thread alone.
Disheartening to say the least.

Small sample size but here it is:
15 master level combines, one skill up. (Would have been 21 combines but I failed on one on the blasted sub-combines! Salvage 3 and didn't even get anything back)
14 GM tailoring combines of various gloves, pants, tunic and augs to go in them. Zero skill ups.
14 master level smithing combines, zero skill ups (Again, would have been more if not for another annoying failure processing the yttrium bricks)Savage Spirit Sharrien Dreamstalker the Kraftin Kitty, Master Artisan
Primal Elementalist Ravingronn Blazewarden, Master Artisan, Master Researcher

28 combines of master's bloodpact sleeves. trivial at 290.
With 530 dex, 355 int, went from skill 275 to skill 276. One skill up in 28 combines with 530 dex, for somethign that supposedly has an increased skill up chance, that doesn't seem right to me.
They need to increase min skill up chances on DoN cultural a bit more and add in min skill up chances to other recipies as well.
Master: 10%
Grandmaster: 25%
PoP bows: 25%
Bazu Bone Bow: 25% (bazu bone is RARE)
Don't make that the min chance necessarily.. but... make it possible to make that the min chance based on your primary/secondary/alternate stat checked by the tradeskill.
In other words... at 550 str, you'd have a 25% chance of getting a skill up on smithing with grandmaster items. at 500 str, maybe 20%. At 450 str, maybe 15%. At 400 str, 10% (similar to what it is now). Make it so that stats mean something for skill up chances for high end rare components.

Total agreement here. A 5% skillup chance on hard-to-acquire ingredients is still insufficient.Originally posted by Bolas28 combines of master's bloodpact sleeves. trivial at 290.

I can't support you on this. It's already bad enough that stats factor so heavily into tradeskills... because it makes it necessary for people to be x level with y aas to increase their stat caps. The last thing I want to see are MORE changes to benefit only those tradeskillers who are high enough level or have netted enough gear and aas to boost their stats to ridiculous levels.Originally posted by BolasDon't make that the min chance necessarily.. but... make it possible to make that the min chance based on your primary/secondary/alternate stat checked by the tradeskill.

My thoughts: Boost the minimum skill up chances to reasonable levels. Leave stats as they are now. Give me cookies.

i think he is talkinga bout the ultra high end recipes, not things a lvl 10 toon could get. i would imagine sa recipes over 275 the stats would play more heavily since it is ahrder to get skills past that point

Brewing: In reference to the Planar Brain Blaster and its use of Kirin Horns, Absor posted on the EQLive forums (haven't noticed this posted elsewhere yet):
Using that particular item might have been a mistake. It's a "cash drop" item, so I can't muck with the drop rate.
However, this drink was meant to be rare and just for fun. I'm ok with there being some items in game that are hard to make AND have no purpose. This is one of the items that I hope will get hit with the bonus skill up chance when we get those conversions done.

If there is a 5% minimum skill up chance on the master level armor, realize that it only applies if your base chance is below 5%. In other words, it only applies if your skill is above 269. What this means is the only master level combines that would even benefit from a 5% minimum skill up chance are the arms, legs, and chest, because the other parts trivial below 269.

I've done about 10 GM attemps since the patch. I did 5 of those today, and got 2 imps from 297 to 299 in consecutive attempts.
