To tradeskill or not to tradeskill...
It depends on what you want out of the game, TSs are an enormous time-sink and incredibly infuriating and boring at times. Even without farming greens, many TS recipes require lots of sub-combines.
However, they can also be very rewarding and exciting. I love being able to combine muramite sheets for my guildies and get a buzz off trying an expensive recipe that will lose me 100k if I fail (i guess i am a bit sick lol).
Only you can decide which is best for you, bear in mind you have the advantage of being in a guild that raids - upgrades can be got for free and you have access to items for skilling up.
As far as monetary reward goes, I am one of those that has made a packet on TSs. I gave up rolling on gear I couldnt use a long time ago and have managed to raise 5 TSs to 300 and twinked 3 chars selling mostly TS'd items.
Find a niche or 5 in the market and you're sorted.
