buyer broke??

i was able to enter buyer, but it was acting kind of funny. all my lines didn't show up in /barter, and there was this wierd extra spastic line that showed up at the top (seems that every buy line i added after the line reflected at the "wierd line" at the top would show up, but others would not). i gave a pretty extensive /bug report describing it on ayonae ro.

okay, i'm changing my story... i just tried buyer. the problem i describe above was before the bazaar zone was brought down around 7 p.m. EDT. just now, when i tried to turn buyer on, i couldn't. it does look like the "blue griffon hall" buyer area got marked differently.

i was able to get my trader bags and set up trader in the erstwhile barter hall.

When I first logged on last night, tried to start up buyer... it did a little flicker, and placed a duplicate buy line at the top of the list... then checked the barter window and it was only showing one buy line... so then I tried to add something new as a test, and it DID show up... so I then deleted all my BART_ files and redid all my buy lines... was working fine after that.

Then came the Bazaar patch and you get the "must be standing on a platform message" when you try to start the buyer. Tried in several locations throughout the Barter area, to no avail

Last night, around 11pm est I was unable to set up in buyer mode, so I camped to char. selection screen.

This morning, around 7am, I again attempted to set up in buyer mode. It worked, however, /bart is broke. By searching all items, I was able to locate 4 items - there were 4 buyers set-up. The four items listed in /barter, I assume, were the first item being purchased by each buyer.

I could not find, by /barter, any of my items, other than the first item in my buyer listing thus my assumption.

Camped again.

On Test Server my wife had her buyer up last night for a while with things working as expected, but we took the buyer down before bed. Also, we had the buyer up for the last few days on Test to buy newbie items (ie spider and spiderling silks) while the production servers are upgraded. We had problems with the bazaar itself being a bit unstable and kicking our characters out of the zone and getting access to the zone itself (PoK bug), but we didn't have any problems with /buyer mode.

Yep, my buyer on test is working just fine. Like Trellie said, after the patch yesterday we kept getting kicked to character select, but other than that, I was able to be in buyer mode with no problem.

As for the issue of the buy lines all flashing through the first line and only the last buy line actually showing up as a buy line in /barter searches, I had that problem a few weeks ago on Test. Bugged it when it happened. It seems that each buy line has it's own numbered line in the barter ini file. The file is under the directory userdata in your EQ directory. The file is BART_charname_servername.ini.

A buy line looks like this:
BuyLine03=*2^3^1^1^7480^Darkclaw Claw^800^7000^20^0

See that string of numbers and ^ symbols? The second number there is a repeat of the line number in "BuyLine03". In that bug, all of those second numbers got reset to "0", so that the line looked like:
BuyLine03=*2^0^1^1^7480^Darkclaw Claw^800^7000^20^0

To fix it, I went line by line in the buyer file and changed that 2nd number to match the number in the "buyline#" part of the line. That fixed the lines.

Your other option is to delete your entire buy line and reenter it from scratch. Obviously, it's faster to just fix the file *grin*.

So, don't blame us on Test for that bug going live. We found it, we /bugged it in detail (actually, I think I submitted three seperate /bugs on it, adding additional information as I figured it out). It went live anyway.

Just tested that on Test, and /barter window is working fine. No problem searching. So it appears that the buyer modes are just bugged on Production. But then, I don't know that we've gotten the production patch yet. It's sometimes a couple of days before we get the full patch.

I asked around. Apparently, there was an issue when the patch went up that's since been fixed on Live.

If no one is able to enter Buyer mode on your server, please let us know what server that is, either posting here or on EQLive. First, please look at your map of the Bazaar to make sure you're in the right place, things have changed. Also, please check to see if other people are in Buyer mode, and try entering that mode standing next to them. If it works for someone, it should be working for everyone.
