Just wanted to give all you halflings out there a heads-up on the current state of the race specific "Armor Patterns" book quest.
Before yesterday's patch, the quest giver requested the followings items be collected from either Runnyeye or Gorge of King Xorrb:
1) Catskull Cap (No Drop, Pickclaw Mindripper, Runnyeye)
2) Fractured Femur (No Drop, Pickclaw Bonemender, Runnyeye)
3) A Bundle of Optic Nerves (Dropable, Evil Eyes, Gorge)
4) Bead Necklace (Never actually had one drop in Gorge)
Earlier reports suggested that the "Armor Patterns" quest NPC was accepting the Fractured Femur (Dropable, Skeleton Miners Quest, Toxx Forest) instead of the intended version from Runnyeye, and was awarding the Patterns Book if you subnitted it along with the other three requested items. I was unable to confirm this as I never looted a Bead Necklace in Gorge.
As of yesterday's patch, the "Patterns Book" quest NPC changed his required list of items to read:
1) Catskull Cap
2) Fractured Femur
3) Minotaur's Horn
4) A Bundle of Optic Nerves
I can confirm that the followings items, when turned in, will trigger the quest and issue the Halfling "Armor Patterns" book award:
1) Catskull Cap (No Drop, Pickclaw Mindripper, Runnyeye)
2) Fractured Femur (Dropable, Skeleton Miner Quest award, Toxx Forest)
3) Minotaur's Horn (Dropable, Minotaurs, Gorge)
4) A Bundle of Optic Nerves (Dropable, Evil Eyes, Gorge)
I'm assuming that while the Dev Team addressed the Bead Necklace issue, they failed to correct the "NPC is recognizing the WRONG Fractured Femur
drop" concern. The good news, you can now finish the quest, the bad news, that Skeleton Miners quest can take a good long while to award you a Fractured Femur, as it is only one of several quest rewards, and appears to be a tougher get than the others.
Hope this post helps some of you folks out there wondering why the Halfling NPC won't accept your offerings.
