  • Halfling "Armor Patterns" Book

Just wanted to give all you halflings out there a heads-up on the current state of the race specific "Armor Patterns" book quest.

Before yesterday's patch, the quest giver requested the followings items be collected from either Runnyeye or Gorge of King Xorrb:

    1) Catskull Cap (No Drop, Pickclaw Mindripper, Runnyeye)
    2) Fractured Femur (No Drop, Pickclaw Bonemender, Runnyeye)
    3) A Bundle of Optic Nerves (Dropable, Evil Eyes, Gorge)
    4) Bead Necklace (Never actually had one drop in Gorge)

Earlier reports suggested that the "Armor Patterns" quest NPC was accepting the Fractured Femur (Dropable, Skeleton Miners Quest, Toxx Forest) instead of the intended version from Runnyeye, and was awarding the Patterns Book if you subnitted it along with the other three requested items. I was unable to confirm this as I never looted a Bead Necklace in Gorge.

As of yesterday's patch, the "Patterns Book" quest NPC changed his required list of items to read:

    1) Catskull Cap
    2) Fractured Femur
    3) Minotaur's Horn
    4) A Bundle of Optic Nerves

I can confirm that the followings items, when turned in, will trigger the quest and issue the Halfling "Armor Patterns" book award:

    1) Catskull Cap (No Drop, Pickclaw Mindripper, Runnyeye)
    2) Fractured Femur (Dropable, Skeleton Miner Quest award, Toxx Forest)
    3) Minotaur's Horn (Dropable, Minotaurs, Gorge)
    4) A Bundle of Optic Nerves (Dropable, Evil Eyes, Gorge)

I'm assuming that while the Dev Team addressed the Bead Necklace issue, they failed to correct the "NPC is recognizing the WRONG Fractured Femur
drop" concern. The good news, you can now finish the quest, the bad news, that Skeleton Miners quest can take a good long while to award you a Fractured Femur, as it is only one of several quest rewards, and appears to be a tougher get than the others.

Hope this post helps some of you folks out there wondering why the Halfling NPC won't accept your offerings.

I can confirm that the femur requested, as of yesterday, is still the femur from Tox. I attempted the femur from Runnyeye first, he had no use for that item.

17 cloth turn-ins later (over the past couple of weeks), I was finally rewarded with the femur from the skeleton. Sure enough, it's the one he still needs.

I accidentally flagged the wrong femur for the quest. Sorry about the trouble this has caused. I've slated this to be hotfixed as soon as possible (likely within the next few days) but in the meantime, the femur for the Tox quest should do the trick. After the fix goes live, Bill should begin accepting the fractured femurs from Runnyeye.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention,

I'm confused...when I did the book quest a few weeks back I had to hand in the Mino Horn. I remember, because I was ticked that I had spent so much time getting the bead necklace and I had to spend 20 mins in the gorge again for the horn. I also thought I had handed in my Runnyeye femur, though I did have both on me and possibly got them confused.

I know I'm turning 40 next week, but has senility hit me already?

No, you're not going crazy. This quest was altered to exclude the bead necklace, then fixed for the fractured femur issue described in this thread, then rebroken for the same ff issue (my fault), and then (as of last saturday) refixed again. I might be going crazy though
