Today has been a happy day for tailoring. =) A random person asked me to make them some feran items, and I got a skillup off those two combines; then I did three stacks of Velious leathers and got a whopping FIVE skillups off those! I also did some random smithing with leftover items from an earlier run and got one more smithing skillup. I'm scrounging around for some more tailoring combines now, and I may do some baking or smithing later on.

      Status update:
      Smithing: 265

Well, I went all out on my baking stuff. Over 200 combines, mostly Tormentor Stir Fry and Hero Sandwiches. My mule is now out of baking supplies, but I was able to find a few items in the bazaar for future skillup runs. The good news is I gained ten skillups from that lot. =)

Today I decided to pull out all the stops on tailoring. About five stacks of velious leathers later, I had gotten like five skillups, but I still wasn't satisfied. So, after hollering in PoK for a chanter to enchant some silver, I made myself some Gem Studded Chains (JC skillups! Woot!) and bunches of Solstice robes. Sadly, most of the robes went to a vendor, but it did get me a few more skillups.

Last night, after I thought I was done tradeskilling, I tried to pack all my stuff back onto my mules, and I realized that I was out of room. So I decided to take a crack at fletching and use up some of the arrow parts I had stored. 67 combines later, I had nine skillups! /dance

Today was another mostly-prep day, but I did get in some combines. I'm now swimming in celestial essence and Blessed Dust of Tunare, so I'm working on converting them into silks for tailoring.

I also had an excess of imbued emeralds, so I put together a pottery run to use them up. Imbued Idols of Tunare are surprisingly cheap and effective for skillups.

Tomorrow is raid day for my guild, but time permitting, I plan another run each in tailoring and smithing. With luck, I'll hit 300 tailoring tomorrow. Only 16 skillups to go! =)

So, let's see where we stand today:

As of a few minutes ago, I just hit 300 tailoring. As far as I can tell, this is a serverwide first! =)

I've also gotten a few skillups in random other skills, but ... geez! 300 tailoring! =)

I'll post a proper status update later on.

Whoa, what a day it's been. I knew going in that I wanted to max tailoring today, but I didn't know if I would be able to do it or not.

Did I mention that I love the barter zone? I woke up this morning to find that some kind soul had sold me a whopping 400 yew leaf tannins! I had a few stacks of black panther skins that had been on hold for a while, and I quickly used them up. I then gathered all the arctic wyvern and cobalt drake hides I had left, and blasted them off too. After that, I decided to dive into solstice robes. Someone was auctioning in the bazaar to sell Gem Studded Chains for 300pp each, and I quickly bought all 50-odd she was selling. After an hour or two of making sacred swatches (yes, I took breaks), I started in on the robe combines. During all this, skillups came slowly but surely.

During one break, I checked the bazaar and found someone selling 140 arctic wyvern hides. I quickly bought them all and did the combines. That got me to 298 or so.

In the end, I made a few more gem studded chains myself and started in on the final run for tailoring. A few combines later, DING 300! =)

I had to camp then and deal with RL, but when I got back, I decided to work some on my jewelcrafting. While waiting for a raid call, I got my JC to 276 or so, and after the raid, I did a few more combines to end the store-bought ranks. Getting JC past 279 is going to be interesting, given that I need blue diamonds for my smithing. That means I'm restricted to using diamonds, black sapphires, and Jacinths for JC. I'm also trying to get some geodes and other odd drops in the hope they will help.

So, it was a good day overall, I think. =)

Hum, I must have missed the velium ruby veils. Those suckers are gonna be expensive, but the sellback on most JC stuff has been pretty good.

I'm a bit leery of using Gem Studded Chains since I'd have to bazaar-sell them to break even. They don't stack, and my trader is already heavily overstocked. And I utterly refuse to start a fourth account just so I can get another trader going. Maybe I can just stack them on a mule and put up ten at a time on my trader or something. We'll see.

At any rate, I do have some PoP jewelry combines stored up from ye olde days. The remaining components I'd need to do the combines should be common or cheap now. I can sell the results or pass them out to newbies for some good karma.

I've been both dreading and anticipating my baking run, if that makes any sense. When I originally skilled up to 250, I categorically refused to do Misty Picnics (I didn't have the new interface then). PoP was still a popular expansion, and I was easily able to reach 250 on PoP baking, which is far simpler than the logistical nightmare that is MTP.

Nowadays, though, far fewer people are doing PoP, which in turn means far fewer components on the market. Farming PoP for baking supplies is inefficient at best and a downright nuisance at worst, particularly given an estimate of 20 combines per skillup. MTP seems to be the only practical alternative for mass combines. It's a good thing I've got a bunch of brownie parts saved up.

Whoof ... it's been wild the last few days.

My last post was on Wednesday. On Thursday, I had a disappointing run of tradeskill. Something like 200 assorted combines over several tradeskills with no skillups. I suppose it's kinda balanced by the nutso skillup rate I've had so far, but it's still irritating.

Friday and Saturday are raid days for us. My guild has been beating its collective heads against Rallos Zek. I think we have the key strats figured out, but we just need to practice and get it all done in time. It's still frustrating, though, to fail, have a chance to recover, and still fail again.

Anywho, Sunday I took the day off and didn't log into EQ, but Monday, I was able to get some tradeskilling in. I forgot what skillups I had exactly; I'll post a status update when I log in and get the current numbers.

Today is again a raid day, but I may be able to do some tradeskilling early on.

Once again, it's been a wild and wooly ride. I've been slacking on the blog, but not on the tradeskills themselves! Raids have been taking up much of my time and memory, so I haven't been keeping accurate track of combines and stuff. At any rate, here's where I stand. Little by little, I'm getting there!

The last few days have been very frustrating on the raiding side. Things aren't going as well as I'd like. Still, we're making some progress.

Anywho, on the tradeskill front, I finally took the plunge and started making Misty Picnics. It's not as bad as people made it out to be. I actually found them kind of fun -- though I shudder to think of the work they would take without the new interface.

I also managed to get in some random combines for other tradeskills. I think tomorrow I'll finish off baking and make a solid effort at pottery, with whatever smithing combines I have lying around to round it off.

So, let's see where we stand.
