Master's symbol patterns successfully created. Now I just need Shissar scales to make the patterns. I can make 2 bars/sheets of metal at the master's level with the dropped pieces I have. Will probably wait till I get a 3rd and attempt legs or bp.

- The result of the mold combines take up 8 inventory slots, as well as the result of the symbol pattern combines (for each level of mastery) take up 8 inventory slots. If you make a set of molds and a set of symbol patterns for each level of mastery, you will have 40 inventory slots of stuff you have to fit somewhere. They are all no drop btw, so gl on your inventory & bank management.

So.....when do we get more bank slots now??

Another question that is somewhat related....are these book quests repeatable? or are we done once we use our allotment of patterns/molds for that level?

Any idea what hammer Half Elves are supposed to use? I've found Antonican Smithy Hammer in Freeport and Qeynos . . . and a Fier'dal Smithy Hammer in Kelethin. Someone checked Surefall Glade and found no hammer there. Regular Smithy Hammer does not work either.

I THINK the half elf forge in Kelethin is on the platform between the PoD and Newbie lifts (since its new, and as a half elf I don't get the "you cannot perform combines in this container" message I get with the wood elf forge).

I'm also having no luck finding the half elf smithy hammer in surefall or kelethin. guess i'll try qeynos, then freeport

Update: not found on any smithing vendors in POK, Qeynos, Freeport, Sayers in qeynos hills, Jaggedpine. I'm thinking the half elf smithy hammer is NYI. boo.

as for the paper for the symbols... I ahve not had a chance to look.

I can confirm that it is NOT those quills and parchments that you have to use. Have a look in your home town for those new ones. I found them i felwithe at the basement of the Paladin guild.

How does one get the second book? I got the first book and made a couple of pieces, then hailed the guy again so Icould get the second book. He asked me to retrieve the same things as for the first book. My smithing was about 168 then.

I guess that maybe smithing has to be a certain level (182?) before you can get the quest for the second book? I dunno.

He should say something like [valuable] or something along those lines. When you take that discussion path, he mentions some zone names. Say the name of the zone to get a task.

They very well could be level restricted, as the top one (GM book) requires level 70.

Changed the first post to reflect that the final symbol combine can be done in any forge, not just cultural.

I have made an expert level metal bar, but I forgot to get the trivial. I'll post that the next time I make it to 3rd gate.

P.S. HE does not say he can't give me the Lavastorm task.. He just doesn't respond at all to "Lavastorm Mountains" or any variant of that.

Someone stated in another post that it has to be bugged, because for some reason he will respond when you say Lower Guk. Then he gives you a task in Lower Guk; however, its reported that its not updating task info. I'm guessing we should /bug it or send to Dev's Corner?

i believe the compacted backpacks are aailable at abysmal as well from the tailor npcs there

for DE... I found the NPC that gives the Quest for the books and also he talks about making "other Items" but will not respond to /say Other items

but today when I went back and he does not offer the same "other items" text

anyone know about this...

do other race Quest NPC say the same thing
was it taken down because of a bug
was this in Beta?

They are also sold on both the book binding/quill/ink/vellum npc's and the smithing npc's that sell the cultural ore and the new clay, in home cities.

I get two discussion paths--one for the armor itself and one for the augs to put in the armor. I think that path you mention is for making the augments that go *in* the armor, not the armor itself. I do get four choices of zones for that one. When I completed a task from that path, I got the book for making the augs.

I am still trying to be able to make the armor itself above the "journeyman's" armor. I made some of that--required level 15, recommended level 20.

I want to make the next level up of armor. Smithing at 184, level 55 and he still tells me to go gather the same stuff I gathered for the book that made the first backpack full of armor molds for the journeyman's armor.
