  • Looking for Cultural change info...

    Hey All,
Anyone know if the changes to cultural in DoN are a complete reworking? Meaning, should I use up all the cultural components I have in the bank now because they'll be useless after the change takes affect? I'd hate to lose out on all the High Quality Brute Hides, Imbued Folded Adamantite and other components I have banked.

    Thanks,
    Dyllwin Dalewalker

    cultural

It's not so much a change as a complete new set for every race/class. I do not know what changes if any will be made to exsisting stuff, but this will probably supersede in quality and stats.

Does anyone know if Dark Elf Cultural armor is going to be chainmail that casters can wear again?

So the old stuff will still be around, and new recipes will be added? I hope this is true, since the old cultural still has value to some, even if just to use for tribute. Can we get confirmation that the current cultural isn't going to be dropped?

Yes. Half Elves get armor. If there are half-elf classes that wear silk/leather then you will have tailoring to do, if not then sorry it is all smithing.

We get both tailoring and smithing cultural

It is probably the number one thing I am looking forward to tradeskill wise as we've been without the ability for SO long.

Short Answer: Yes, they're going to still work, for a while at least.

Longer Answer: Evaluating and modifying the existing cultural tradeskill recipes has always been something We've wanted to do for quite a while, however... It's also a very large task, so we decided to break it down into a couple different steps. The first step was to decide how we wanted the new cultural armor quests / recipes to work. Some of the criteria are listed below :

                    • Quests - The cultural tradeskills needed to be tied to your home city, which allowed us to put a good amount of lore, reasoning, and culture behind the creation of these culturally based armors.

                    • Multiple Tiers - When coming up with the idea behind the tradeskills, we wanted to create a system with multiple tiers of armor, for various reasons.
                      • Availability - The most important reason was to give as many people as possible an opportunity to experience their culture (yes, even you silly Half Elves!) at a wide range of levels.
                      • Expandability - We wanted the system to be easily expandable, giving us the ability to add additional tiers of cultural armor at will, either for lore reasons or technical reasons (such as expanding the level-cap).

                    • Longevity - As a tradeskiller, sometimes you like to keep and use your creations as much as possible before having to upgrade, so the system we created needed to be flexible enough to allow for that.

Once we had a solid plan from which to start creating all the new armor, we did just that, giving you guys a much better system in the end.

Now that that's all done, we'll be able to go back and look at all the existing cultural stuff and decide what we want to do with it (remove it, reduce the difficulties, etc), and it can be done in smaller sections, as we get time.

Thanks Maddoc...reading between the lines it sounds as if I have a bit of time to use up the old cultural components, just in case the revamp either eliminates or radically changes the recipes. Worst case is I use them up and need more in the future

Sounds like I'll be doing a lot of Tribute work in the next few weeks

                        Farming or purchasable?

Will the smithing and tailoring items be purchased from a local vendor?

Tailoring, smithing and fletching all stunk for ogres.

MUCH of it is dropped stuff. THere are some exceptions, but I think the cultrual bricks and cultural thread that are part of the recipe will be vendor purchased.

OK, the cultrual stuff is awesome and all, for me to be able to make myself something. What about being able to make other awesome items for friends, guild mates, and other characters?
