  • Best class/race to be a mutli-gm?

I have been gone from the game for awhile and I mostly solo.

I have very erratic play times, and as such, I have a paladin, and an SK that I solo with.

I'm wanting to express the tradesmen in me, and as such, I'm looking for a good blend that will allow me to do most skills with as little pain as possible.

I'm thinking a gnome - since they can tinker which is pretty neat and useful.

Is there a concensus on these things, or are there any pros or cons? Since both of my other chars are armor wearers, maybe I should pick a race/class that can make decent armor for them? (BTW the paly is a Tunarean Halfelf and the ShadowKnight is a darkelf) not sure if there *is* a race that would benefit both of them.

Anyway, I'm pretty new to trades, so that's why I can't be any more specific. Sorry if these questions have been covered - I didn't see any threads quite like this.

    What you want is:

    1-someone that can forage.
2-someone that can enchant all the metal and the clay.
    3-someone that can farm easly.
4-someone with a cultural repice that help skill-up in hard to skill tradeskill.
    5-someone that can imbue gems.

For 1: druid or ranger, halfing druid as a first choice.

For 2: enchanter, gnome enchanter is a good one (thinkering and cultural smithing/thinkering and tailloring).

For 3: Bard, druid and a lot more

For 4: human (the have a lot of choice).

For 5: Any cleric or druid from a rare religion or one that his gem of choice is not a costly one.

For 6: Any class that you have fun to play, because you will play it for a long time (no short-up to become a member of the 1750 club).

You will probably finish as a lot of tradeskill maniac be having 2-3 toons as helper to do something that your main can't do.

I play a human, tunare-worshiping druid and I think that is about the best tradeskill combo out there (and I had no clue when I started this toon, my very first one), for all the reasons stated above. However, worshiping tunare has helped alot by being able to imbue emeralds and use many of the solstice earring recipes to skillup then sell and recover most and often more of the cost. (BIG exception with the solstice robes of course :P).

Plus as a caster, I wanted to max my wisdom anyway, as a melee that's not going to be your focus and you might need special "tradeskill gear".

I have started an enchanter (currently 31) just so I can get enchanting and mana vials done on demand, lol, and not bother my guildies, who don't seem to be available when I want this done anyway . And of course she is a gnome, so I can GM tinkering...

I'm playing a human wizard. I can't forage, enchant, or imbue anything. I can, however, farm fairly efficiently by using PBAE spells in conjunction with my Staff of Temperate Flux. I can also get to the zones I need to farm in quickly with my wide array of gate spells.

Wizards can farm greens like nobody's business. I can pull and kill all of the Hollowshade south islands in one go.

That is really good advice, it covers all the bottlenecks you run into if you can't do these functions or have a _really_ good friend that can. You can quickly wear out your welcome with friends by asking for tradeskill help.

I tradeskill with my main (a DE necro) so I can't do most of that list. I finally started a tunari wood elf druid to knock out some of that list (mainly forage and imbue gems..at higher levels will be able to quickly farm).

That still leaves me at the mercy of the bazaar enchanters for mana vials, some imbues and such. However, I'm still glad I went with foraging to support tradeskills over enchanting.
            What day is it anyway?

Excellent info guys- I'm torn between a human and halfling druid based on the info above - most likely a human Tunare Druid... One quick question - what's the cheapest item that will cure my night-blindness? Been gone too long cant remember any of this stuff hehehe!

Just FYI, a human tunare druid can't make armor for either of your other toons They can't make anything for tunare worshipers (because no human plate wearer can worship tunare) nor for a DE (not sure why this is, maybe because DEs wear small? But humans can make fierce heraldic for a troll or ogre, which are large only... /shrug)

Agree agree, and to cover 1,3,4 a bard works well also. a WoodElf Bard gets 50 base forage to start, they have cultural smithing, and they are great for farming. A Woodelf druid covers 1, 4, 5... and to some extent 3..
for #2, ya have to have/be an enchanter, no way around that.

I don't rely on forages as much, generally using more of a harder farming/bazaar path, and I have a lot of foraging friends, so for that playstyle a gnome chanter is nice... tinkering plus the other stuff.

Although with your other characters, I think a human druid of tunare is probably a good call - you can make cultural for the de and the pally iirc (I know you can make cultural for dark elves worshipping rallos, not sure about inny).

Oh, didn't think/know about DEs worshiping RZ. Also, didn't think about Fine Heraldic for half elves. Oh well.

Humans can still make the Human cultural which helps in the hurdle above Smithing. A Human Druid can start out in Qeynos even if you're Tunare worshipping and beging to collect Human cultural ingredients from the lowest levels of the game. If you can get your Wisdom maxed out before you start playing you can reach grandmastery before you even hit lvl 10.

As an aside, if you plan to farm a lot, another thing to consider is transportation. Wizards and druids both can go to any zone quickly, edge to druids for sow/soe boost. It's nice when you want to farm silks in EK for example and can instantly port yourself there (or for wizards, into the next zone). My poor paladin has to run around all over the place which cuts into farming time.

Send your Paladin or other Knight to Shadeweaver's Thicket to farm Shadeling Silks from the Lesser Shades, though...
