*chuckle*
I started with tradeskills WAY back when - before metal sheets stacked. I actually made a character SPECIFICALLY for tradeskilling - a DE necromancer. then I started on smithing... got through banded and fine steel. What's next? Cultural armor. Oh. Requires an enchanter. Hmm. Requires imbued sapphires. Hmm.
And thus the start of alt-madness was born. It only got worse. I was hunting in Overthere and collected a boatload of sabertooth hides. Hate to see them go to waste; create a wood elf druid. Hey, they can do all kinds of neat things too! Playing in Stonebrunt and pick up some of the drops for Footpads of the Tiger... create a monk alt.
And where has it ended? After five years off and on (I have taken more than one extended break from the game), I have 3 accounts and 22 characters that I play, with almost every race and class represented. I can imbue RZ, Innoruuk, Sol Ro, Karana, Cazic Thule, and Tunare. My smiths include Barbarian, Human, Dwarf, High Elf, Dark Elf, and Ogre. My tailors are Wood elf and Erudite.
My biggest gripe with tradeskills is that it is impossible to GM all of them without emphasis on level - or having a high level character collect drops for you. That said, I still find them one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game.
