I knew there were a few examples out there... I was just thinking of making it "more extreme" so then maybe they will give us a bigger reward at the end 
And though I would also love the final combine to be no fail... if the result is going to be something "raid level" or just "really really good" there has to be that risk to loose ALL of your work. Just like in a raid, there is the risk of loosing all of the work of the raid and wiping. Sure the "recovery" is faster, but it is the same sorta idea.
Maybe multiples, OR even... don't make it no fail... but go ahead and make a "fail" give a reward that is not as good as the succes.

And DEFENITELY this would be learnable in the tradeskill interface.
