Today I went to convert Raw Pale Nihilite to Pale Nihilite and to my surprise, I received one Pale Nihilite and one Water Flask. I tested this with Taelosian Wheat, Aligned Ore and Taelosian Tea Leaves. It seems every conversion would yield 1 or 2 of the item plus 1 water flask. Has anyone else had this happen?

I talked to Tanker about this just now.
The verdict is that there's something screwy going on. These recipies are unique in that they rely entirely on a script to give the return item, and there's a complication with doing it that way. It's not a problem if the recipe doesn't need to be learned (such as a quest combine), but when I set these so that they could be learned another problem cropped up.
It's either you can't learn it or you get bonus water (water was just a filler I tossed in there, since it wasn't supposed to give it out).
So, for now anyway, you'll be getting free water with every combine. Please drive through.

Even aside from the extra water, the yields seem to be broken. I have converted 80-100 raw pale nihilite and except for the period when we were getting 1 extra for every conversion, I am still averaging less than 1.5 per conversion.
Yesterday, I only got 6 pale nihilite from 5 raw pale nihilite. That is a small sample, but I wonder if the "experience" from previous conversions got reset.

Sorry for all the back and forth. At this point we're going to leave it as is until there's a code fix for the learning problem. Considering that it's a one item combine, not being able to learn it probably won't cause anyone to pass out from the effort.

Also, check this post by Amaruk http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/show...1&postcount=11 in a different thread....he has been advised he will not be reimbursed for ore eaten by the bugged conversion....because conversions are not a no-fail combine...while we all thought it was guaranteed to result in 1 item and would slowly improve to get up to 3 items per conversion.
So…is this correct, are we risking getting 0 items every time we 'convert' our raw materials? If so, getting the NPC to convert for us for a guaranteed 2 items every time seems the better option.Master Artisan Maevenniia the Springy Sprocket Stockpiler of the really long name

Any combine that gives 0 refined product is in fact bugged -- I won't guarantee that he'll get his raw material back, but I'll contact our GM Support Staff tomorrow and let them know of the conversions that were bugged.

Please Help Absor or Maddoc
Please review CS ticket number 1925907. After a recent patch I lost the ability to refine Aligned Ore. After creating a petition for help I was told everything was "working as intended and it was only ever intended to give one aligned bar per combine." Please help? If you cannot get the CS ticket information please reply here and I'd be happy to provide details.

Doesn't turning in the material to the vender always yeild 2 of the refined ore?
So we are doing a quest with hundereds of trivial combines to get a reduced yield?!?

Has anyone gotten 3 back yet? I have seen allot of posts about getting free water but no one saying they have done X compines and now get a reliable supply of 3s
Also is each refinement type seperate? Will I have to take a loss on several hundered combines once or for every trade material?

That is the other advantage.
The NPC won't convert the high level version of the material.
So if you dont train on the low level stuff you will get bad return on the high end stuff when you get round to doing it.
Since I have seen the high level drops selling unrefined for 2kpp I guess it is worth putting in some hours on the low level stuff :-)
