Humm that seems to indicate that all conversions are on one counter (which is highly illogical, but nice) So far I have only done Nihilite refines and I am now getting 2 stacked. I guess that I should try some of the other refines (I have done all of the 7 core skill quests)

No, sorry if I gave that impression. I know that isn't how it's supposed to work, and that isn't what I've experienced. My understanding is that we're supposed to average 1.5 from the start, which means a mix of 1s and 2s. What I meant is that I have been getting some 2s, although there have been plenty of 1s as well. No 3s yet at all, but I doubt I'm up to even 100 combines across all the skills, much less in just one. I'm a cheapskate and can't forage, so I'm just working on what's really cheap in the Bazaar (5pp or less) and what I find on vendors.

Liandra is right though, that doing a basic refinement should improve your rate at the advanced refinement for that same skill.

I'm fast approaching 300 combines on Raw Nihilite (at 270 right now). I received my first "2 stack" at combine 95, and started receiving a third sometimes at combine 157. Since then my percentage has been slowly climbing, to where I'm now getting almost 2.5 per combine. I may have had a bad run, or I may have had a good run on my last two stacks, but I jumped from a yield of about 2.1 to 2.5 3 stacks ago.

My last few sets of combines went as follows:
(143 combines up to this point, most per combine is 2)
20 combines - 42 results (+2) (combine 14 yielded 1st 3 result (2 stack + 1))
10 combines - 22 results (+2)
19 combines - 42 results (+4)
20 combines - 42 results (+2)
18 combines - 39 results (+3)
20 combines - 52 results (+12)
20 combines - 50 results (+10)

It looks like my percentage jumped around combine 225 or so. Your mileage may vary of course

Still waiting to see if I'll ever get a "3 stack." I'm sure hoping that's possible so I can get the most out of the shimering stuff

I finally received my first "3 stack" result of aligned ore today. I even continued for over 2 more stacks after that, but I never saw a 4th (and I don't think we're supposed to).

Unfortunately this happened with the ore, and it's the nihilite I'm keeping track of. I know I was several stacks ahead in ore processing, but hopefully soon I'll have the rest of the figures for the nihilite to help narrow down when that switch occurs

I had recently worked up the nihilite combines to where I was getting a guaranteed 3 per combine, but I wasn't sure that I had kept accurate records on when the change over occured. So I decided to do it all over again with the Tea. I collected over 22 stacks of Taelosian Tea Leaves to do all the combines in one sitting.

I sat in PoK and did the combines, recording the result after each. Here's the spreadsheet showing my results. I got my first "2-stack" result on the 83rd combine, and the first "3-stack" result on the 383rd combine. So unless there is some wiggle room, or different skills change at different levels, it looks like my nihilite tracking was a little off.

Over the 400 combines I did I had a yield of 936, or an average of 2.36 per combine. If you only count until I got the first 3-stack, then it's 2.44 per combine. Of course now I'll always get 3

Now I just wish I could get enough scales together to get the tailoring combines up to 3. Not that you can make anything worthwhile with em, but it's just a shame my main TS is behind smithing, brewing, JC and soon to be Baking.

Taelosian Tea:
Conversion 1 to 80: getting "1" or "1+1"
Conversion 81: got my first "2"
Conversion 81 to 132: getting all "2"
Conversion 133: got my first "2+1"
Conversion 133 to 380: getting "2" or "2+1"
Conversion 381: got my first "3"

Like Dyllwin, it took me exactly 300 conversions from getting my first "2" (stacked) to my first "3" (stacked). For me, it was conversion 81 to 381. For Dyllwin, it was conversion 83 to 383.

I'm also concerned with the lack of recipes, or at least me finding them, that use the filtered sludge for Alchemy. Anyone find any combines with it or are we still waiting?

Taelosian Tea conversions now appear stacked on your cursor. Wheat flour, Pale Nihilite, aligned ore and Taelosian Stone continue to appear unstacked. I can't speak for other conversions.

I'm not sure how many combines I have done but I am getting 3 per attempt more often than not.

Typicly I will get 50-57 refined for each stack of raw materials. (gems and steel)

I tracked my conversion learning process with the Taelosian Teas and my results matched Elfdruidess. I started before her post and didn't check back here since then to see that someone had completed the data first.

First return of 2 stacked was on 81st combine, first return of 3 stacked was on 381st combine, first return of 2 + 1 was on 138th combine, but since the +1 is random, I suspect it was possible as early as 131st combine.

In general, the yield seemed to go up by intervals of .25 per conversion. That is you start at 1.5 per conversion, improve to 1.75 per and the start getting 2.0 every time. Similarly batches of conversions in 140-380 range seemed to start out near 2.25 per conversion and go up to 2.5 and then 2.75. Again, since the exact return is random other than in the 81st to 130th combines and after 380 combines, the exact return rate outside these ranges and the points at which it improves is difficult to determine.
