I'd have to agree that one good idea for the trophies is to add augmentations. Since they are the same stats, you can add different augmentation and swap it out. For example, you can have a smithing trophy with fire resist, tailoring one with cold resists etc. That way, depends on which mob you fight, you can have additional 6 or 10 resist you can add without sacrificing the stats. Just a thought.

i made all my trophies (inc the poison vial & seal) and carry all of them with me. i have VT gloves but made the GM smithy hammer, after finishing the assassins seal quest where you have to combine away your GM vial... i made another one.

      why?
      because i can.
thats all there is to it, anyone can have a geerlok, but not everyone can show their skills via a full set of trophies.

plus they look good above the fireplace to!!

Maybe someday they will implement a quest where you turn in all 7 trophies to receive a super-trophy. Still... you'd be better off just stockpiling the gems til they actually implement it. (anyone care to guess how much the gougers in Baz will want for a Jacinth if such a quest -were- available?)

I see a couple of reasons to make the trophies. First is to demonstrate to customers your skill level since there is no mechanism to prove you have a certain level in a tradeskill

I made my smithing hammer at 208 skilll, I might have remembered th equip my XTC hammer (Though I think I forgot) never used the thing as a gearlok, just a cha buff when I needed it, and a WR bag.

I have the shears and now the VT gloves, tae ew shields have got me to 223 skill in smithing after stopping skilling up at 220, capped skill and aide grimmel level, Doing shields as they are nice tribute

Why get to 1750? Why make all 7 Trophies?

There is no real reason to get to 1750. 240+ Geerlok is better skill. Same for making more than one trophy. It is the effort put into it that counts for me.

Better question is why are you giving up 6-7 bank/bag slots for trophies you have no use for?

Until there is a super trophy, making more then one trophy is a waste of bank/bag space. Bank/Bag space is worth 100,000x's the value of an extra trophy, multiply that by 6-7 and you lose almost an entire bag of space.

I have yet to be asked to show my Trophy for proof of my skill, and I do maybe 50+ combines a week for customers. Sure I can make them becuase I can, but no one cares if I have 1 trophy let alone 6-7+. You are only hurting your own ability to store goods with no real benefit from having them all.

I got to 1750 last month and now that I have nothing to spend my money on, I am determined to get all 7 trophies. I have failed many already but will keep plugging along til I have them all. I have 2 now. It is a sense of accomplishment and the finale of the skill. If they do ever add a super trophy or let you get more bags from multi trophies, I won't have to beat the gem rush and increased cost as everyone will be running out to make trophies at the same time.

Sure the trophies have a cost associated with them, but I see no reason to not do them either. We all have geerloks for the respective tradeskills, so the trophies won't take up any more bank space.

I think the Trophies are just another level of prestige, like making the 1750 club. They are a goal, a fancier toy than a geerlok that everyone else has. Why drive a porsche when VW Bug will get you there? Cuz the Porsche is just a wee bit more fun. So is having the trophies rather than the geeloks.

If you see no reason to do the trophies, don't do them. It's that simple. But, please, don't rain on the parade of those who do find value in doing them.

As a gnome enchanter with Tinkering Trophy and JC Trophy, I can tell you the extra 100 CHA from those two items it quite nice. I can easily max it out at 305 now, which helps cut down mez resists and help charms last longer.

Not to mention the 20 STR is nice. Most of my gear doesn't have any STR bonus to it, and I didn't have much strength to start with.

I currently have 2 trophies that I switch in and out of my range slot. One has an AUG that modifies my pet, the other has an AUG for +10 Agi. Aside from these 2 the only way I would make another is if I needed a 3rd AUG slot that was situational (say like Mana Preservation 4)

You're right.. having more than one trophy doesn't mean anything (or much).. IF, you're a min/maxer player who cares for nothing other than having the EXACT BEST.

There's over 500,000 peopel with active accounts in EQ. Given that every class has different ways to be played in innumerable situations, you will NEVER be able to establish what is the EXACT BEST. You will always have a few points in some skill, or stat, that you don't really need... you will always find someone else that differes with your opinion on how the ONLY WAY to play a class is, or the ONLY WAY to do something is.... so...

If you want ONE and ONLY ONE trophy... great.. make one. If you don't understand WHY someone else might want MORE THAN ONE trophy... don't bother to try to change their mind, or show how WRONG they are.. let them play the game the way they like... because they are no more WRONG than anyone else, including you.

Personally, i have 2 atm.. and maybe someday i'll have all of them... maybe not.

What I think would be really nice, is if the trophies each summoned a bag like they do now, same stats- but you could use it for the tradeskill associated with the trophy.

Ummm... The GM Assassin's Seal doesn't summon poison vials. All it summons is a container to combine pre-made poisons into 5 and 10 dose versions. It works just like an alchemist's potion bag except that it gets used up with the combine. I WISH it summoned poison vials.

Anyways, I have several trophies atm. Assassin's Seal, Eyeglass, Hammer and Corker. When I am doing a combine run, all 3 are equipped for the wisdom boost I get from them.

I've made two trophies and carry both when I am tradeskilling. I made my baking spoon 'cause it was the first skill I GM'd. I made my Tinker's spanner 'cause I was so danged proud of finally making it to the top.

Why do I carry both? I like the stats, and I like that having them both in hand make me look like a xylophone player on his way to a concert.

Oh, and the +100 combined CHA makes me feel real purty.

I plan on making a trophy for every skill I eventually GM. Why? Because I can and I want to. Therefore, it's likely I will. There need be no other reason.
"Why!?", screamed the man. "Why is it, that after all my time, effort and skill, do you offer me less than 1/20th the purchase price of just the beans I put into this casserole?"
"Because", said the Vendor, "You can't unbake a bean."
Thus the man achieved enlightenment... and became a farmer.
