Just have a intersting thought/question bout skill enhancing items in the game and the skill cap.
There are many items out there lvl restricted to players lvl 60+ like the elemental bows and geerlocks, and GM trophies that offer +5% or more to a certain skill. I have noticed more of these items of late. As a ranger the bows have caught my eye but have seen other items that offer say a bard a +15% to brass instruments.
My skill in archery was maxed very shortly after I hit that last level where I could max everything out. Now IF you cannot exceed the cap in a skill, be it archery or baking or tooting your horn, what good is a modifier for someone who more the likely already is at that cap?
I got my foraging machette while my skill was low and religiously carried it with me as I sat in some zone hoping for a better chance at a rare forage. Once I maxed out that skill the machette ended up on a mule, rarely used.
I honestly dont know if my increase in archery damage is a result of my bow or the +5% archery skill modifier. I can only hope that any ranger worth his/her salt would already be max skill in archery by lvl 61, why even bother with a skill modifier if it does no good???
I wonder if the skill cap thing is not as accurate as we all think. I see too many other weapons and such that require you to be of a level where one would think that the player would already be at the cap.
Am I missing something here?????
