This is my first post to this forum, and have only been playing EQ for about 8 weeks, so be gentle.
    /flame off

Not wanting to re-rail the derailed subject of:

"Target Click Shows Help" has return to "Enabled"

I haven't a clue what this means, even though I suspect this could be a source of a problem I encounter frequently with the interface. Could someone please explain exactly what this is, what 'apparently negative effect' this has, and also how to correct it would not only help myself but other less seasoned players as well.

    /flame on

PS: loads of great info at this site, not sure game would really be playable without the time/effort ppl take to post all the info avail here on these boards.

The History of "Target Click Shows Help"

"Target Click Shows Help" is a function that was implimented with the patch on Nov 5th 2003. The purpose of the feature is to give additional info to the player when the player clicks on PCs or NPCs (and possibly objects, I never bothered to check). Depending on how your colors are set up, when this is enabled and you click on a PC, you get three lines of bright yellow spam, about, "You have clicked on the Player (Name). // To inspect this player, right click with the mouse or use the /inspect command." and so on.

There is a button in the alt-o options box to turn this OFF. The thing is, for various reasons (to me, most often related to server switches or Disconnects), this option would turn itself back ON.

      Got verrrry frustrating, very quickly.

      HOWEVER.
The flaw has been fixed, and the fix will go live with the next live patch.

      And that is that.

      Welcome to EQTC, btw ^_^

        Deluxe tool kits and drop/nodrop

Some of my deluxe tool kits are now no drop, some are still the old way. Reported this as a bug today.

Check and make sure you don't have no-drop items in them. Confused me greatly before someone pointed that out to me.

On my Oddities in EQ List is the fact that planar fletching kit is no-drop, while planar jc and sewing kits are not... seems an odd thing to make no-drop. /shrug.

Any bag that contains a No Drop item will be marked No Drop. Any bag that contains a lore item will be marked Lore. (kinda creepy having numerous 'lore' backpacks of the same type simultaneously...)

Remove the item(s) in question, and the bag returns to its normal status.

              thanks

Ok after a few years playing EQ And then being deployed to Iraq for the last 13 months (yes I have missed THREE expansions) This is one of the best threads I have ever seen. The responses and the actuall notification of upcomming fixes really empresses me and goes along way on keeping me in EQ. Customer service is a huge plus in my book. And the dev team seems to be really trying to fix what we the players see as a problem. I can't Say thanks Enough. So I will Leave it at this message and go on my way.

PS. Molto Has retired. EQ2 has lured core group away.

I quit the game I loved because it wasn't anymore. Guilds allowing farmers in because they could do a lot of damage in raids.
SoE not really doing anything about farmers, macroquesters ect.
Still Some of my favorite times spent online happened in Norath. The friends and mobs I remember fondly.

Kudos to Tanker and Maddoc for the revisions and keeping us updated here on the site. Some suggestions for future enhancements:

When we do an experiment the container pops up and the new UI disappears. Upon a successful combine we have learned the recipe. Why not have the new UI reappear with the recipe in the favorites list so we can add it or continue to make the item.

A counter in the lower right would be nice. When making mtp subcombines (I make runs of 100) if you get interrupted for any reason, you can lose track of how many you made and have to open different bags to get a count. The counter would reset to 0 when we change items. Presently I open a bag and on the first combine place 1 of each in 5 slots and auto-inventory until I have 5 stacks.

Combines from bank inventory would be nice to have.

I wonder if anyone else is having the same problem that I am having with the new UI. Actually, it happens with all containers that I open. When I move my mouse over an item, it used to show the name of the item, but now with regular containers, I have to hold down the ALT key, and on the new UI, even holding down the ALT key does not show the name of the item. So, when I lookup a recipe, I cannot determine the names of the items needed to make the item.

I tried asking in PoK using /ooc and some other players were having this problem, and others were not. This starting happening to me the night before the most recent scheduled patch, and I really want this ability back. It is very frustrating to not be able to see the name of an item when I move my cursor over it.

I do not use any custom UI at all. Someone suggested reloading my UI, which I tried. That did not fix the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: I forgot to mention: Someone suggested the /invwinlabels command. I tried that. It did not fix the problem either. I also tried camping to desktop and restarting EQ. That did not fix the problem either.

Don't know if it is on the live server yet but on Test the celestial essence is now made in a mixing bowl.

I'm feedbacking this as soon as I get back in game, but know what would make a welcome change to the new TS UI? A "Clear search" button. As it is after every search I have to erase the old search word manually before I can search for the next one. It's not a major thing but a small annoyance that could be easily fixed by using the same system the bazaar search window uses.

I didn't have a collapsible mixing bowl to try. I'll have to see if I can get hold of one and find out.

One thing I would like to see changed is when I enter the search text is the enter key to activate the search instead of having to hit the search button.
I'll type the text in and hit the enter key everytime just out of habit. Then have to hit the button

What's incredibly amusing to me is, even though the TSUI takes the pain out of the long-term time sinks with skilling and combines, there are tiny ways in which they have let some things remain.

The fact that you must manually hit the 'search recipes' button rather than just hit enter.

The pause between combines (honestly, it wouldn't offend me if they made it a little /longer/, though I know few if any will agree with me).

The fact that after you've broken down your fish/meat from Gates zones into the 1lb variety, you must transform (not combine, just transform) it through another step before it is fully useable. This has caused me to swear off any Gates baking after I use up my stash of ten boxes of Saltwater Crab meat. (Why can't we do this five pieces at once? heh.)

The fact that to make sauces for Gates baking, you go through two subcombines before even combining with the meat (which has already gone through two subs itself), /before/ you even perform the combine that offers the skillup chance.

And most of that is just in baking.

The TSUI definately changes the way tradeskills are done. It makes the 'banging head on wall, long run' method of skilling up easier, while not changing 'short run' stuff (anything under 10 combines, I'd say). And it's quite interesting to see what's affected and what isn't.

All in all, a much better job than I was afraid of. Altho I still despise that transformation 'combine', but oh well. There's still a time sink to balance out the one they semi-disposed of. Very interesting. ^_^

I have a question, and I freely admit it might just be me not knowing how to use the interface correctly.

Why doesn't the green/red background thing also take into account those items stored in the bank? I can understand why it wouldn't do that if you were in the commonlands, but what about when you're standing in front of the banker with both your bank and your tradeskill container open? Does it do this already and I'm just not using it right? It's a real pain to juggle all those containers to make sure you have the right combination on character when it shouldn't be that hard to search ALL containers you have immediate access to (which is also why I don't think it should work unless you are in the bank).
