Warning about Shared Bank Slots

If people are talking about items missing. It most definately belongs in this thread. I posted mine to say that if a guide asked me a question about my shared bank.. then I raised an eyebrow.. saying maybe this guys problem isnt' isolated.

So what if we want to say we didnt get a response too?

calm down eggborn, the request not to derail was most likely directed at the rallic-pack-poof story, since that one doesn't seem at all connected to shared bank, which is the focus of this thread.

At least in your case, the guide was asking you about your shared bank. I.E. It's still somewhat related. The main thing is, Maddoc, Tanker, and others are taking the time to answer stuff as they can, but people shouldn't be taking that for granted. They've only got so much time and as many have said before, this isn't the /feedback button nor the SoE EQ boards. They don't HAVE to come here, and if the signal to noise gets out of hand from people posting stuff to try to get their attention instead of using the appropriate /feedback and "Email a GM" methods, they most likely won't. Clear?

I had a problem about a month ago with my shared bank slot. I placed a (thankfully empty) rallic pack into my shared bank. I closed the bank window and moved on only to experience a hard crash five minutes later. I believe my ISP was at fault. When I relogged, the pack was gone. (Quellious Server) I am not concerned with replacing the pack, it was easily replaced one dead grimling runner later, but wanted to add in another shared bank problem.

Update on my situation:

No response from Sony.
Still out my 90k.

I can only believe that my plat is gone for good, and that no one can help me with this problem.

Is this acceptable? NO. Can I do anything about it? NO.

I again, must reiterate my point. Do NOT keep anything in the shared bank slot for any period of time. You will not be reimbursed for these losses.

The Europeon Servers were cautioned through MoTD to not store items in the shared slots, the US base was not afforded this courtesy.

Am I disgusted? Am I bitter? Am I angry?

I am resigned to my 90k loss....It is obviously not recoverable, and no one will speak for me.

All right, I have a question Whyllo.

In the set of "stuff" that disappeared, was there a Lore tag ANYWHERE in it?

So far, the only connection in all this is that among the extremely short list of items that have have been disappearing, all have been Lore. If there were, then I suspect that throwing any Lore item into the shared bank might be the culprit of the screwups. I know for a fact that Lore has been responsible for another huge screw up involving items before, though it wasn't the tag itself, but the Lore message.

In other words, I'm not saying only Lore items disappear. I'm saying that the presence of ANY Lore item in the shared bank may be the problem.

Just thought I would add this.

Did you delete any characters from your select screen?.

The only time on FV where we have had things in the shared bank slots poof is sometimes, but not allways when a person rerolls.

To reroll they have to delete their current character and if they put stuff in the shared bank space to pass on to the new one occasionally the stuff there will poof.

Yep yep seems to be a normal thing.

I had put 10k in my shared bank account and was ok for about a week then checked the other day went poof and NO the plat was not LORE snickers.

So the lesson is: Never put anything valuable (STORED WISE) in either your shared bank account slot or your shared items slots.

I don't see where though if you transferred plat or items and then took them out of those slots right away and put them into that characters slots in their bank account or main inventories slots.

The short of it is: You won't get that plat or items replaced or at least I doubt it.

SO DO NOT PLACE VALUABLE ITEMS OR PLAT FOR MORE THAN THE TIME OF A QUICK TRANSFER.

You tend to lean this way and that way after going nuts making items for several thousand hours.

But the point I was trying to make is that this IS NOT a random problem. This is happening with plat and items and NO they aren't lore items.

Well that's why I asked if any of the items was Lore. So far, the only two items I have seen that have specifically been listed as poofing (That fungus bracer and the Rallic Pack) have both been Lore, which raises huge alarm bells for me. Everyone else just says "my stuff", which is about as clear as a brick wall. It's not going to explain why the Plat disappears, but it might be responsible for why the items are disappearing at least. Make sense?

Edit: To further clarify, treat the plat disappearing and items disappearing as two seperate problems, not the same one. Thus, what might be making the plat disappear is not necessarily going to be the exact same reason why items are disappearing.

My issue was resolved and unrelated to shared banks. (oops I destroyed it by accident when I was farming for shadowscream) I am thankful to the GM and guide who helped. I hope you can get yours resolved soon too!

Do items disappear in EQ? Yes, it is very rare for items to just vanish, but it does occasionally happen. Are items more likely to disappear if they are in your shared bank slot? No

However, items that disappear from your shared bank slot ARE more likely to be lost forever.....just a heads up. My caution to all who are not aware, is never STORE items/plat in the shared bank. Only use this area for transferring items.

In response to my petition regarding the 2 bags w/items and over 90k plat I lost to a shared bank poof, I was told in an emailed GM response that the plat in my shared bank could not be verified at 90k. It could however, be verified at 25k...which is what they said they reimbursed me for. I haven't checked in game yet, due to a deep ambivalence that has emerged through the (mis)handling of my /petition and situation.

How the arbitrary number of 25k was verifiable is beyond my imagination, as my shared bank slot had not been below 40k to 50k for quite some time. The bags and item losses were not dealt with at all.
