    Danae,

You are correct. However, with the new UI, non-gnomes (I have heard only humans and any races, not sure which) were opening Toolboxes and showing/having a skill of 250. So, while they could not skill up, they could basicly make any combine successfully.

Although I do not know anything for sure, since both my Gnome and my Rogue can use their toolbox/mortar&pestle, I presume the emergency patch simply made it so you had to have a skill point or be able to skill up using the container in order to use the new UI.

On a side note that I believe is related, a Vale Sewing Kit and Vale Forge will not open with the new UI. They both give the error "only Halflings may use this container".

Oh no! If I have to go back to making CEs by hand, half the usefulness of the new UI will be gone. I really hope this wasn't intended.

Well... I donno. Yes, it was displaying skill 250 (I witnessed this myself with a toolbox on my druid) however things were failing just like I'd expect for a non-gnome. So was it simply displaying wrong but not affecting combines, was it displaying wrong and affecting combines, or somewhere in the middle? We'll probably never know now.

I keep getting the message in PoK that the forges can be used only by humans. I've bugged it, now it's in SOE's hands I guess.

BTW, have I mentioned today that the Celestial Essence thing makes me very very very ?!?!

When I first came across the bug for tinkering I thought i would test it and see if it was graphical or actual skill. I made up some firewater and failed once on 4 combines, I then tried to make some stalking probes because the were fairly cheap and I should have been able to make them with no trouble with skill 250.

My first combine resulted in a success and I was thinking that it might be actual skill. I then failed the next 2 combines. I then spent a bit more and got enough for around 8 Cam combines and blew all of them on failed combines. This leads me to think that it was simply a graphical error with the way they dealt with nongnomes. If they programed the new UI and forgot to check for the special case of cannot learn then it might have shown up as 250. Say the flag for can not learn is a skill of 254, if they did not check for that the new UI might have looked at it, decided the max skill was 250 and displayed it as such.

Just so the gnomes don't get upset, we never had skills of 250, we were just dreaming that we did.
The "Fix" did a bit more damage then fix anything since it was just a graphical bug. It looks like the made it so you can not use the new UI for any container you don't have skill in and since no one has skill for any of the quest containers or the nofail combines you are prevented from using them at all.

          Just my thoughts.

Here's hoping this is a BUG. CE's are the bigest pain and are only there for a time-sink. My wrist was just starting to get some relief!

My mortar and pestle workes fine for me with the new UI. Tried it today. I am, however, a rogue and can make poisons with it. I have not tried to use it with alts of other classes. The deluxe toolboxes will not open for me with new UI on my non-gnome rogue though.

Appologies if this has already been mentioned, but it seems that you must be a race/class that can use a skill for the UI to work for you.

That does seem to be the way its working after the patch. Would be fine, if they hadn't started giving out combines with those race/class restricted tradeskills to *everyone*

Its been mentioned over in the pottery board that the glazes are not combining.

New UI - Mortar, Toolbox and Quest combines

Odd.. I didn't realize that someone else could change the title on my topic. Seeing if I can change it again.

It doesn't work for me either. I have to do Celestial essence by hand now. It did work the first few days.

Thanks for the info on this one, guys.

With the trouble we had with Tinkering, it was decided that you wouldn't be able to use the new UI if you couldn't gain skill in the appropriate skill for that container. In the case of Mortar and Pestle, that's poison-making.

Now, since only rogues get PoisonMaking, that means only they would be able to use the new UI to make Celestial Essences. This was an unintended side effect of the "fix".

Maddoc is now reviewing the case, to decide what should be done. I'll let him get with you guys about what he's doing, but rest assured we know about it, and want everyone to be able to use the new UI for CE's.

Thanks for dropping by Tanker. I'm sure your words are making people breathe a bit easier. I think nearly half of all people looking forward to the new UI were excited particularly for CEs, hehe.
