  • Help us test out EQEcon.com!

We're preparing to launch a new fansite, EQEcon.com, and thought members of the EQTraders community might be interested in helping us test it out. Having done my share of smithing and tailoring, I know how expensive it is to skill-up and how much it helps if you can find a good deal on components.

EQEcon.com will provide free, searchable, 100% accurate in-game item pricing data for every item in the game. We'll also offer a premium service with server-specific prices and custom charting for the truly hardcore.

The beta test is going on now, and the key below is good for 20 beta accounts. To participate in the beta, go to http://www.eqecon.com and click "Enter Beta Key".

    Key: a7342beb1a15388c1c3b39ccc6f21321

We hope having access to over 200 Million bazaar prices before everyone else will make it worth your time to help us test out the site! Enjoy!

    hot... fudge...

Granted, I only skimmed the tutorials, and will definately go back later and really try to understand it all...

That is an unbelievable amount of information. For those who understand what they're looking at (yes, eqecon has an large tutorial, will report later with how helpful it was for someone who has about 0pct understanding at the outset), this is going to be unbelievably, incredibly helpful.

Looking at the links there, I'm not sure how you would want feedback given to you... email, a forum there, something posted here....

This is just... wow. That's all I can really think of, is wow. ^_^

Thanks for the great comments. We really want the charts to be usable by everyone, especially if they're starting off with no previous experience. Please let us know how we can make the tutorials and help sections better.

What are the chances of getting username or seller information added to the charts. Its nice to track the prices but would be very nice to see who is selling what.

Ok, I gave the key 50 charges this time. After it runs out, you can still get into the beta by submitting an application from the front page.

We don't actually collect that information because a lot of players would consider it an invasion of privacy to have their character names out on the web without their consent. There are, however, mini-forums at the bottom of each chart page that will only be read by other players searching for that particular item on your server. Those are a great place to arrange a trade if you're looking to buy or sell that item.

Thanks for all the feedback you guys have given us today, and keep up the good work

                        Hail, day trading on EQ!

Seriously, this looks to be a very powerful tool for the financially inclined.

I looked up a few items I've been tracking over the last few days, and the info seems to reflect prices at which the item is posted at the bazaar. This leads to some worrying questions that can affect the validity of the underlying data.

                        1) What is the source of the data? (I assume it's bazaar pricing.)

                        2) How is the data collected? Given the sheer volume of information on the site, I assume there's some sort of automated system, but how often does it check? How does it work?

                        3) How do you account for whether an item was actually sold at a posted price, or merely removed from the market? I forage a Doodad of Uselessness in some zone and put it on trader for 10K. A week later it hasn't sold, and I vendor it. Does your system care at all what happens to the item, or does it only track listed price?

                        4) Many, many of the items I buy and sell are not through the bazaar; I buy lots of stuff in PoK, for example. Does the system account for prices offered or asked in /auc or the server's market channel?

                        5) Many items have one or two posted at extremely high price ranges, and one or two at extremely low. A common way to account for this when calculating average price is to exclude the highest and lowest values, then average the rest. I'm not a financial pro, but I couldn't find a way to do this. Is this possible?

Oh, and just for fun, check out the price of a Water Flask in the bazaar! =)

My husband is totally into stocks but I am a total bonehead so I thought, "hey maybe i can get my feet wet with this, since I have a pretty solid Bazaar understanding!"

OMG there's a LOT of info there He is hoping I might understand his world a little better after I go through Chart School!

                          THANKS!

Didn't look far, but if you go here https://www.eqecon.com/choosePlan.ph...3b39ccc6f21321 and check out the tutorial for Boellinger bands, I think you'll see how this situation is handled.
