  • I can't even imagine being a bard.
AS someone who likes doing tradeskills.. and is a bard, I laughed when I read this.

My original toon.. (had all of 3 days before making my bard) is a druid. I dust her off for foraging/fishing & Imbuing.. hence.. she's still level 30. I play a bard.. I am a bard.. I think a pretty good bard.. I'm always busy. Some friends wanted to do a lowbie group in Ldon the other night and invited me along as my druid.. I was BORED stiff inside 5 minutes. sit... sit.. stand and buff, or heal.. or OMG Nuke.. but keep mana for first 2.. so sit.. do nothing

as my bard... I use at least 7 of my "spell" gems (yes we bards call them songs but it's the same thing) if not all 8 on every pull.. I run a steady twist of 5 songs during the fight unless I throw in Mez, which takes the place of one buff song for every mob I cast it on.. (yes I can get quite dizzy swapping between 4 or 5 mobs to mez.. but it really almost never happens)

I am in the process of working my way to 1750.. I would have done it without the new UI... but I've played with it a little on test and I like it. NO more CONTROL key and since brewing is the easiest skill anyway that's the one I've played with on test.. and while it says I have learned fetid essence.. it seems to only be available after I've successfully made it at least once that play session.. next play session, I have to make it again for it to show up.. so it's a can learn.. but still so far above my skill that it's not saved.

    • I don't think its appropriate to compare the clicking of tradeskills to the clikcing performed in a gruop or a raid. The formar is a static situation with no opportunity for skill, interaction, etc. The latter is a dynamic situaiton where you are responding the situations and events around you, and your play has an impact on the success of whichever venue you are in. If you really feel the entire game is mindless button mashing, then why do you play it?

Not exactly sure how you didn't see the sarcasm involved.

The formar(grouping) is a static situation with no opportunity for skill,
Sounds like grouping in the Planes to me.

You have it backwards. I obviously saw the sarcasm. You know what sarcasm is right? It's when you say the opposite as satire.

Your post said, paraphrasing: "game too hard, need hotkeys to play for me". As we agree this is sarcasm, I can infer your true feelings are: "game is already too easy, we don't need the software to do things for us, we should do it ourselves". The things I said were contradicting the latter, what I supposed to be the "true meaning" of your post.

And while I don't think playing EQ is terribly hard per se, I do think there is more skill in volved in grouping, including some risk involved (for instance, if you are watching TV instead of mezzing an add or healing your group, you will have problems). Maybe grouping in BOT casting slow over and over while someone pulls singles over and over is low skill, but it's still more involved than clicking combines in the bazzar.

            • can you still do it the old way?

I looked at the new tradeskill ui very briefly, but the new 3 sec thing is a drag. Is there anyway to tradeskill the old way. I saw clicking hte experimental combine button. But can you juse use the old bag?

I also though this would be a god send. But 3 secs per click will eat through my time online.. Only thing nice is now I can make endless amounts of CE on my Tradeskill gimp account while I raid on the other.

Is there anyway to get the old UI back to skill with or is it gone for good? Should I attempt massive skills up pre patch or just relax and ride it out? I ilke the old way!

              • Hitting the experiment key brings up the current style containers.

                • You can use the old method, but it too has a 3 second delay.

The very easy 2-item, fast combines got nerfed.

The insane stupid 9-item combines that took 2 mins of clicking and re-clicking just to do one combine got improved in a BIG way.

All in all, its a MAJOR change for the better.

Look at it this way, doing Celestial essence.

A few clicks to open up bags and pestle. Left hand, hold down Ctrl button. Right hand, 2 clicks to put Scent of Marr in, 2 clicks to put solvent in, 1 click to do combine, click to drop in bag. Eventually youll need more clicks to open and close more bags, and more clicks to move them around so you can combine smoothly and quickly.

                  vs.

1 Click to open new UI. Type in Celestial in the search box. A lot of clicks to find the combine with Scent of Marr. 1 click for Add (add to favorites).
... then one click to combine, one click immediately below it to drop in your bag. Wait 2 seconds. Repeat.

I 2-box. I was not able to do CE on both toons at the same time. I can now.

You have to sort all the ingredients in your bags the old way. The new way you dont. Once you run out of stuff to combine, all the product is neatly lined up in your first few bags.

                  BEST. TRADESKILL. UPGRADE. EVAR.

                    • So far in one thread someone mentioned that they were able to see a recipe 25 points above their current skill level. (not sure if they had a geerlok or not)

                      Anyone else have similar findings?

                      • Well the new system will not automake Wood Elf Cultural Fletching or Smithing of any kind. Recipies do not show up at all either in the Fier`Dal Cultural Forge or the Fier`Dal Fletching Kit. I still have to use the old way. /shrug

                        • The mistletoe sickle didnt show up. Afte rI made 2 or 3 it did. You need to learn them if they dont show up at first you can eventually add them.

                          • 250 Baker. Only 4 recipes over 200 showed, and halas meat pies and misty thicket picnics were not among them. I wanted to make hero sandwiches; dressing showed up, but spiced hero parts, smoked hero parts and hero sandwiches don't, and did not get learned when I made them. I'm not completely surprised by the sandwiches, but I am disappointed, and I am surprised that the parts recipes weren't there. I'm also surprised at the absence of halas meat pies and misty thicket picnics

                            • It may take a few successful combines to learn an item.

                              • It might, but since I've now made 2 stacks of combines on hero sandwiches (I'm at 250 already), I don't think they or the smoked/spiced parts are being learned ;/ Annoying, since this is one of the things I make a lot of, and doesn't bode well for the restocking run on halas pies or misty thicket picnics I've been putting off.
